petition made AGAINST bikes

Hi im from south east london and just for my road there has been a petition made against bikes by quite a few people, there is also on my road many bikers who like to tune and test there bikes as you do but yet these people are trying to do what exactly here? ban bikes? surely they cant were all fully legal and pay our road tax so therefore we are allowed by law on road :w00t: whats your opinions

there’s a few roads round the old/new kent road area that have something like this.bottom line for me i think it’s ********.

Best thing is to try and be courteous to your neighbours.

You’ll end up with the council knocking over noise complaints. Not sure what they can do, but I’m sure there’s some law they can apply to it if they wish to do so.

Also, pssed off neighbours can cause your family grief & if you sell the house you have to declare any disputes. Let’s face it, we love biking, but I would get pssed off if my neighbour was fixing their bike all the time and making loads of noise.

There’s a midway point - try to approach them and find it?

Nipples - sorry, too sensible a moment - had to go back to the old me

I would be definitely annoyed if people were testing and tuning their bikes in my road. I try and be as curteous as I can with my neighbours, I dont even warm my bike up if i am leaving early in the morning…

Doubt they want to do something unreasonable like ban bikes, nothing like a solution that alex mentioned above can’t solve… sensible adult dialog and compromise… and hugs…

None has carte blanche to do whatever they want in this world…

living next to a family who have 2 harleys with straight through pipes who also think its fun to leave them running for 1/2 an hour before they go out, I have certain amount of sympathy with the people in the street, a bit of thought goes a long way.

If I’m leaving early in the morning I start the bike up and immediately crawl away at very low revs to avoid damaging a cold engine and annoying my neighbours with a couple of minutes of on the choke warm up.When I am a few streets away I stop outside the houses of people who aren’t my neighbours, and wait for the bike to reach operating temp there - voila - no angry neighbours. . .

+1

I do feel bad every morning with them two cans on my bike and firing up my baby at 4a.m is quite disturbing so I usually put my baffles in the evening before:D

lol - I can just imagine you firing those two massive cans of yours every morning… :hehe:

yes alex, you’ve heard them, they are LOUD without the baffles:w00t::smiley:

I CAN HERE YOU A MILE OFF CHEEKCHICK:)

I do the same just purr at low revs until off the road but believe it or not just the sight of a bike without a engine running is enough for them to go phoning the pigs you cant come to any sort of agreement with these type of people 1 of which is a woman who does not know how to drive her van/car she goes well over the redline for a couple minutes then changes up and down up and down :w00t:

If the neighbours wanted to test out their 200dB screaming brittle siren music systems with 10 Megawatt woofers every Sunday morning, I guess the rest of the neighbourhood would view it as anti-social self-indulgence without giving a toss for the neighbours.

There aren’t many bikers on the road I live - I’m probably the only one. My neighbours tell me that they can hear my exhausts in the morning and evening, but it doesn’t bother them. If there were about 3, or 5 more bikes, I think they’d change their minds quickly. I guess the neighbours have made a petition because it’s clear the bikers who are tuning and testing, just aren’t showing that they’re willing to listen. A community ASBO might make the bikers change their minds about testing. For most professions, it doesn’t look good on the occupational record either…

i think he was thinking of something else :stuck_out_tongue:

If this is true then you have nothing to worry about, they have no basis to back up their petition, and if the police are being called out for nothing, and you can prove this (a webcam set up focusing on the bikes can help) then you can get the police on your side by showing that the complainees are wasting police time.

That is the better way to combat annoying people, make them back up their arguements with facts and proof, they soon go away if there is nothing

I’m really thick, but, how do you phone a ‘pig’?
I know they’re clever creatures, behind dogs & dolphins, but speaking to them on the phone??

:ermm:

Have you read Animal Farm Alex? :hehe:
https://www.youtube.com/v/ksnwIUyspps&hl=en&fs=1

No but I’ve seen the film ‘Animal Farm’ and I can tell you there wasn’t any talking going on! :w00t:

:w00t: errr, I think we’re talking about different films Alex. . . :stuck_out_tongue:

When the police do come round they dont have much to say apart from “we’ve had complaints” we just sit and chat with them if they ask for details ect (they dont nomore know us all quite well) we show them, them and theyre on there way setting up a camera will be a good idea then I can catch the big moan in her high revving daily act :w00t: and as for the pigs im sure if your from london you understand if not the only talking pig you would of heard of is babe not no dirty animal porn u sicko
