PDA Holder For A Bike?

My alternative to getting a dedicated bike GPS would be if there was a way of fitting my PDA to my bike. At present I use it in the clear pocket of a tank bag, but it’s a bit low down on the tank to see all that well.

Are there any holders out there for PDA’s which can be fitted to a bike… and is waterproof?

I’m not sure there are any specifically designed for bikes. You can get some for cars which have a suction cup. TBH on a bike at speed I wouldn’t want the risk of it coming off. Why not keep it in your pocket and bluetooth it to your lid.

I have a bluetooth headset up my lid already. I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it properly so I could easily make calls and such as well.

EDIT This is the sort of thing I need, I guess, except my PDA isn’t on the list of compatible models

Just velcro the bugger to the bike.

I don’t think they have one that fits my JasJar/HTC Universal/M5000.

You sure you want to be making calls, typing emails etc whilst riding a bike in London!!!

Up to you I s’pose

i can’t imagine there’re many people who do any of that whilst actually riding. some of us want to be able to use the sat nav function and receive calls though

I’m assuming you just read the thread title rather than bothering to read my actual post…

No I read the post. I can accept a GPS usage for these things but making calls…too distractive/earplugs/helmet wind noise…pointless. Or did I misread you saying you wanted to do that?

Would have thought you’d need something with good vibration damping built in. You need a case as well as a mount in order to make it waterproof… which might affect it’s useablity… Try touratech, they do teh bet mounts around but not sure they’d have anything for a PDA. If you call them they’re very helpful and will give you model numbers of all the bits you’d need.

In the end, I’ve just gone and bought a Garmin Zumo 500.

Yes, I did say I wanted to use GPS and phone calls… where did you get write e-mails from?

I bought this last week…Works well

Really? I have one like that in my car and my XDA has fallen out a few times. That’s fine in a car where it just falls down into the passenger footwell, it wouldn’t be so good if it did this on my bike…

Is pretty secure for me…

Just clamped the VPA tightly into place and use the suppleid adhesive or velcro to mount the holder to the top yoke.

Hit some bumps on some A roads and still have my VPA in place.

try nippy normans

or global positioning systems

or touratech

they do mounts for gps and pdas with dampening and locks

personally i got a tank bag from joe rocket which works for me -

python may be able to give you more info as he spent some time looking into all of this.
