PASSED my bike test(4 minors). Dropped my bike the day b4 my test so I had to so it on a CG(my mirror broke), glad I did, the U-Turn was SO EASY, but getting to 50mph on the dual carriage way was an EFFORT lol, not as fast as my NSR which would hit that in like 3/4 secs lol.
Time to sell up and get my new bike
I did my test at Elite in the end, got em to price match sum1 who was like £100 cheaper lol in READING, so I got it cheap AND close. WIN!!
1st thing i did, is visit my mate in Guildford USING THE MOTORWAY. So glad to use it, and not jump outa my skin every time i see flashing lights. Chuffed
What should I get? and would I get caught with no restriction on it? I’m open to ALL views.
i would say go for something like the sv 650 and get the restrictor kit fitted, its only for 2 years and its just not worth taking the risk not having it fitted.
but congrats!!! well done, so we have another nutter on the road?! ha ha
And finally restriction wise all these bikes require it, its a washer in the carb, affects the bike over 60mph,
max i got was just over a ton on restriction and max without it was 120+
i was a bad boy and took my restrictor out 4 months before i hit 2 years.
I had an accident that wasnt my fault and no one checked it over…but they have every right to do so and your insurance could become void.
So you have been warned…
I personally would get the restrictor in as the power difference from the nsr will be immense anyway
If your going for a 600 you can’t go to far wrong with a GSXR K4/K6 if you want something a lil slower but still with all the power you need how about a Honda RVF 400 fast and can help you become a better rider overall, whaever you do please please stay away from SV650’s there lame.
I recon the best all round bike to start with is a CBR-600, i had this when i past my test an it was great for the 1st year getting used to roads and power.
Ok 1st I’ve heared that so far. Whats up wiv SV’s? Ppl tell me Gixxers aren’t that forgiving?? But i guess the more u twist the faster you go. You’re in control at the end of the day…or you should be. I was thinking bout an RVF/VFR but I dnt like the look as much as some other bikes, but they are a nice price lol.
Ok…What bike you get is your decision, but bear in mind that your first bike you’ll probably drop so befriend someone that works in parts department of a dealer or get a bike with minimal bodywork.
Insurance companies will look upon you like the new guy thrown into a cell with some BIG lads with BIG tools that haven’t been used for a while …IE You’re in for a spit roastin’
Although I bought an R6 as a first bike…I am getting on (was passed the 25 year old insurance bracket) so the insurance wasnt too bad although I did initially have to go Third Party only. Saying that, I spent a lot of cash at Mr. Yamaha parts incorporated
You don’t have to get a shed…
How about a recent ZXR400…UK spec 400…140 MPH (slower IF restricted like you’re supposed to on an A2)…Great handling but a bit too small if you’re tall.
Many peeps choose a Bandit 6 or Hornet 6 as first bikes because they are cheap to run and insure and crash well.
My TP Only on an R6 is gonna be £571!! Wicked i say as every1 else is offering me like over £1,500.
Express insurance incase ne1 wants to know lol
I cant spend more than a grand on a bike at the mo
i may get one over xmas till bout may
then buy another one when iv more money from work. Im a swapper tbh lol, buy and sell quite a lot
and i can get a better bike and make no losses cuz i sell em like 100-200 more thn i got em for lol. so i can get like “free” upgrades
