Parking fine for stopping to adjust my gear!

I would get off the idea of using the phone m8. They’ll just throw the book at him as you should be parked up with the vehicle switched off…meaning ignition should be off, therefore no lights.

Using the truth…sorting protective clothing out to strengthen concentration, thus preventing a potential accident…is the way to go. At the end of the day, your safety was at risk if you hadn’t stopped, you also made sure you were clear of any hazards so that you could sort the back protector out. Sending in a letter explaining this and saying you’re contesting it will either get you off or they’ll freeze the lower fine and request it at a later date.

Thanks - there was no way I was going to start suggesting mobile phone calls. I hate it when I see drivers using the bloody things so apart from the fact thast I would be lying I wouldn’t even go there.

I’d just point blank refuse to pay for a ridiculous ticket like that, especially if you were adjusting your back protector.

Alternatively, tell them you got something in your eye and couldn’t continue driving.

You can easily ‘prove’ the engine was running. To have turned the engine off but have the lights running you’d had to have killed the engine and then turn the key back the ignition position. Any judge would agree it is more likely that you stopped with the engine still running for a genuine emergency.

Obviously wait for them to question it before raising that point!

Could have just flicked the kill switch…

Unlikely, it’s not the ‘normal’ way to switch off. Also how many parking ticker adjudicators are aware of engine kill switches?!

Careful with those subversive thoughts.

They know everything and hear everything (I’m typing this encased in silver foil to jam their thought scanning devices)
