I wanted to do abit more than rub some tcut on my bike so I went and bought:
Soft start polisher/sander (looks like an angle grinder)
Backing plate and heads
Compound
Cubanna wax
Clay
Detailing fluid
Microfibres cloths
Drying towels
Shampoo
It costs a Bomb buying the proper stuff but should last awhile on the bike.
You need to clean the bike then dry it then clay it to remove an lumps or bumps like tar bugs stones hairs drift to prevent scratching the paint when using the machine polisher.
Clean it down then I mopped it and waxed it. So happy with the early results.
My friend works for a detailing company that does just super cars so he told me what to get and I used my own knowledge of what to do but will see him next week on exactly what way is best.
The websites are i4detail and detailed clean but be in for a shock how much it all costs
Jetstream get over to battersea one evening ill give it a go for the price of a tea
I’ve got an orbital sander I can use to attach the buffing wheels to so that should knock a few quid off…
I’ll look into that rubbing compound and clay stuff you’re on about, as well as the polishing pads to add to the sander. Machine Mart sell some kit I was looking at but will check out those websites you mentioned above, cheers
Yeap but more effective as you wet it with detailing spray and it glides lovely then just fold it over and keep going it leaves to flawless with a quick buff after then your ready to mop it
Just bought a 75mm back plate, 85mm polishing head and hand applicators for the wax as I use a cloth last night.
as it happens I’m actually waiting on a course to finalise dates to learn how to do this stuff properly as don’t want to shag the M3’s paint practicing. Have really started to take an interest having worked photographically on a few cars where the owners are serious detailers
not a great idea to start mopping without doing paint depth measurements first incidentally. If its sub 80 microns then you can be saying hello to your base coat. The curves of the plastics and tank can also mean the edges of the pad can dig in and burn the paint.
