Paddock stand- two man job?

Bit of a noob question- but I guess if you don’t ask, you don’t learn.I just bought a Dr bike rear paddock stand- in the instructions it says that using it is a ‘two man job’.
Is this true?

Seems pretty simple to operate to me- can’t really believe this is the case, but rather it is a bit of a get out clause for the maker if someone drops their bike doing it by themselves.

What say you?

Lord no. Stand behind the bike, keeping it upright with your right hand, with your left make sure the stand is lined up nicely. Transfer foot to stand, hold onto bike and push down with foot. Done. To reassure you, I have never dropped a bike while putting it on a stand.

Cheers Scorch- yeah I thought so.
I guess they have to say that if someone does something dumb and then tries to sue?

just as scorch says, it’s easy.

Just don’t get cocky and try to do it quickly because you’ll overlook something and that may cause it to drop

A get out assuming it is like an ordinary paddock stand. The first time you do it is nerve wracking.
A good tip is to have a piece of wood under the side stand so that the bike is more upright.
If you can get someone to “field” the bike the first time you use it then I would!

Maybe before you try the paddock stand, just walk round your bike holding it upright and keeping the balance. You will find it’s easier than you think.

Abba stand is what needed

Cheers folks.I assume you do need to do it on a flat piece of ground?

Abba stand for me too. Never really felt comfortable using paddock stands, especially getting the bike OFF the stand.

A slight slope towards the side stand is confidence inspiring!

Counting through some steps can help when you are putting it on the side stand and taking it off. Like when you are taking it off count:

  1. In gear (not really necessary but I do it sometimes, it means it won’t roll forward if the side stand isn’t fully down or whatever)

  2. Side stand down (this is easy to forget if you’ve been working with the fairing)

  3. Ease it forward and make sure you lean it to the side stand side.

As long as you take your time it should be fine. They say it’s a two man job to cover themselves I suppose.

I have an Oxford paddock stand and it’s shocking in terms of flex. I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Single piece ones are much better.

or watch the LB video on you tube. search for the LB channel andit should be there.

The OMC one?
I found it this morning- cheers- seems pretty straight forward.

And for the love of unscathed plastic, remember to put your side stand down before dropping the bike back of the paddock side.

Operation paddock stand: SUCCESSFUL!
Thanks for the help, people.

The Striple has a nice clean chain now.
There are a couple of rust spots on it- anything to worry about?

Nope.
