I’ve left a note on your bike, but I’m sure you’d like them back before you find it.
So, if someone rings you saying you’ve got their keys, how do you know it is actually the owner and not some scally looking for a free bike??
get them to show you their insurance documents/ID
Or to describe the keys.
Because I’ve given them to the police already? Better than turning up at the end of a long day and having a panic.

Good on you for not just leaving the keys in the bike, and for leaving a contact number.
I should hope anyone would do the same in that situation.
Although I assume an effort was made to find the owner in the vicinity
