Out with the old.......

…and in with the new(er)

Finally managed to sell my old (1982) Honda CB900 and picked this up from Bath today. It wasn’t first on my list - I was looking at a Speed Triple 955i - but it seems very few people were on eBay on Sunday so a bid I placed that I thought would never win, did :w00t:

Had a nice sunny blast back  Haven’t had much of a chance to chuck it into any twisties yet but it’s amazing what 20+ years of innovation can do for the handling of a bike!!!

looks well tidy.

Superb! One of my favourite bikes, that.

Very nice, like it in that colour. Seems there have been a few of these appear in member’s garages recently

Looking good! Congrats

Nice bike dude. What colour is that? looks like Wine Red to me

Thanks guys. I really like the colour too; they call it Sunset Red I think. I’m not normally a fan of red bikes (or cars for that matter) as they’re usually that horrible flat pale red colour but this is a nice deep metallic red.

@ Tromboman: I know, that’s three now this year! Is there a knack to getting the side stand down?? It sounds daft but the heel cup on my boot gets in the way so I can’t get my sole on it. It takes me 3-4 attempts to get it down every time I stop! It’s driving me mad. Other than that, no complaints so far!!!

Wow, another Sprint. I’m absolutely loving mine, so far it’s been an awesome bike. What year is yours?

As others have said - great bike - very neat - great colour AND it comes with Mr Michelin’s finest Road Pilot 3 s - The Best of all possible worlds!

Fantastic

Beautiful looking bike Chris - awesome colour and great tyres on it - what’s not to love?!

very good bikes, i really enjoyed mine!!!

Yeah I was happy to find it had those tyres on it!

@ George: It’s an 06 plate. Got a few miles on it at 54k :w00t: but it’s in great condition and has a good service history - the lady I bought it from is clearly fanatical about maintenance and servicing (well, getting her husband to service it anyway :)) and at the price I got it for I’m not too bothered about the high mileage!! It rode the 2hrs back from Bath without missing a beat so, so far so good

The lady who owned it is a photographer and keen tourer, and knows the editor of Ride magazine. She test rides bikes for them sometimes and this bike has actually been in the mag at some point. So I’m pretty confident it’s been well looked after. I’ll know more once I’ve had a chance to go over it in more detail in the next day or so but I’m really pleased and don’t really miss the old Honda, which I thought I would.

54k for a Triumph triple…pah peanuts…

If the major service is done every 24k it’ll go on and on and on - especially in Sprint guise, not only it it the bigger, less stressed lump but it is unlikely to have been used for quick point and squirt urban short journeys…

Dunno if you’re in the area but I can highly recommend Jack Lilleys in the Ashford / Staines area for any Triumph work…

Beauty! Congrats mate, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it

What happened to your old bike?!? Shame I didn’t know you were selling it - my dad would have loved to have it!

Shite, sorry Conrad. I didn’t post it on here as I thought it was a bit of a specialist thing and no-one would be interested. Also, being 30-years-old you never know what’s going to need fixing next and I kinda felt better selling it to a stranger than someone I know, just in case it fell apart (that sounds terrible), not that I have any reason to suspect it would have done. I eventually sold it to an American guy who had been looking for one for ages. He like it so much he gave me my full asking price without even trying to bargain with me, which was nice as I was beginning to think I’d have to let a dealer have it for peanuts.

Yeah, I did a bit of Googling and couldn’t find anyone who’d had any major issues with high mileage on a Sprint, and the PO had all the major services done at the local dealer and the in-between ones her husband did. I’ve heard of Jack Lilley but it’s probably easier for me to get to North City Triumph as I’m on the A406 near Golders Green (NW11).

Looks loverly

The best way of getting the side stand down, that I’ve found, is to have your foot perpendicular to the bike and toes tipped down otherwise your foot will just keep slipping off

wow stunning bike mate

So, it’s not just me then : ) I’m considering putting a bit of rubber over it so it’s not so darn slippery.
