Yes a serious thread for once
I was going to winter store one of me bikes (none of that fair weather bow-licks) but was wondering how long you can leave a bike unattended on and Optimate II? Three months for example?

Hi MMo
Long as you like mate. Just make sure battery got acid in, though it does what is says on the box…tells you if its shot, brings it up from knackered, basically it optimises!! Switches itself on and off as necc.
I keep my dragstars battery on one all winter, and have done for the last 3 years with no probs mate.
Yeah … they are brilliant devices … if you are leaving them on for months, just check the acid level every couple of months and top up with distilled water if necessary. You can attach a specific charging lead (supplied with Optimate) to the bike’s battery, and just plug the bike in when it’s parked up … works really well!
As you can tell from recent posts, I’m a recent convert and cannot fault them. Dead handy regardless whether you have fitted the quick-connector whatsit or not.
No more “just nip down and turn the bike over for 15mins” stuff.

where can I get one im putting my firestorm in my mrs parent garage today but im suer I will need one in the next month or so
Most shops sell them Jason, perhaps ask babyJ if his has one instock. I have one as well, and rate them highly, very useful! My bikes go on them from time to time, especially when one isn’t being used so often, i.e. the gixxer or poppop!
Tops. Cheers fellas.
Off to visit the realm of BabyJ again. To Infinity and beyond…
Yeah, the optimisers are cool… basically go on to a trickle charge when the battery is fully charged.
BTW - How do you guys check acid levels with sealed batteries ?
As far as I am aware you cant if its sealed, if there issue with the Battery then the optimate will signal that
If the battery is the sealed type I shine a strong light behind it, you can usually just about make out what the level inside is. There is no warning on an optimate about acid levels.
