Online dating

So I moved to London in late 2007 and didn’t know anyone here. No harm in putting myself on match.com - you never know, right?

What a total waste of time. I’d be better off writing emails to myself, at least I’d get a reply.

Has anyone - ever in the history of ever - known these to work out? Because it’s not cheap.

In the meanwhile I’ve got to get some entertainment for the £60 it cost, so I want to replace my profile with a comedy one.

Remember they have to be approved before being listed, so I can’t claim to be looking for my next victim, nor someone who can pretend to be under-age, nor that I can only go on a date if accompanied by a parole officer.

Roll on the ideas!

I met my missus through Freedating.co.uk - totally free for everything on there - found nothing but weirdos on the pay site I also used.If you want some fun, here’s what I did - to check out the competition, I also set up a female profile - if you’re a half decent human being, you’ll soon realise that it don’t take much - just a case of happening across the right person - some of the responses I got were, to say the least, pretty base

you could try www.plentyoffish.com

atleast its free…

one of my mates was in the same boat, so I suggested that we put him on mysinglefriend.com. I thought this was good because someone else has to put you up for it. You still have to pay, but he sid he got a fair few dates with normal women and has been with a woman off there for a few months!

I met my husband 5 years ago on bikerdating.com so it does work:D Yes you have to devise a wacky and interesting profile or people will just overlook you…was’nt hard for me as i’m totally nuts and Steve liked that lol:D

I know several people who met their partners through commercial dating sites. They are all wierdos!

I met my misses online, through Ebay, i bidded £5 including postage and won her.:stuck_out_tongue:

Match.com is bizarre in that your profile stays up after your subscription has expired. Someone I know (ahem) was getting notifications that they had received emails after their membership had expired and advising them to register to read the messages. Thus a lot of the people you could find on there and message may not be registered or interested any more. The person I know also got hounded with promotional emails after cancelling their membership.

They also got messaged by lots of weird people that live very far away. It was not a good investment for this particular person.

I do know some people who have had success on match.com but this particular person didn’t.

Speed dating from www.speeddater.co.uk is pretty cool and well organised. If you go and you hate everyone you can get to go again for free. At least the people there are real and you can chat to them. Although all the hotties seem to be the attached girls who come with their friend for moral support. ERGH.

I was on gothicmatch.com … meet some nice gals including a French girl I was with for year, but I also alot of people with mental issues!

I actually meet my current girlfriend at work … guess it is a good thing I am leaving, before the scandal starts!

Londonbikers.com do a good trade too

I have no problem being single - I often find playing ‘Eleanor Rigby’ by the Beatles has helped me get through many a lonely night. . . :crying:

;):stuck_out_tongue:

Eleanor Rigby - now there’s a blast from the past.

I’ve been on a few dating sites, and had mixed results. there are definately some weirdos and ‘players’ on there, but also some good guys.

Still single though…perhaps LB is the way to go…

How long have you been on it martin ? no luck at all ?..I joined yesterday and if the e-mails and winks continue at the same rate i’l have to employ a p.a to respond to em all
Maybe you should stay with it cos the future mrs ktm may be just about to join up

I enjoy being single, nufink wrong wiv that:D

I did it for a while but just got me depressed to be honest.

Had just given up on the dating thing all together and then met my fantastic girlfriend (Alicat).

What will be will be, I reckon.

Nice to hear youve met your someone special, and i hope its wedding bells all the way from now on…err, but isnt it funny how, when someone “meets” someone they are always "fantastic, gorgeous, handsome, totally “the” one, etc etc…few miles down the road and its same ol crackers !!! ;)Sorry, just being a cynical ol tart !!

Apparently they reckon it’s chemicals in the brain which kicks off that ‘loved up’ feeling that people have in the early phase of a relationship - scientists have worked out that the feeling of ‘loved upness’ usually lasts for about two years and then wears off - which funnily enough - is the time period it usually takes for a nipper to get concieved and be up and running - coincidence? I think not! ;):stuck_out_tongue:

I never follow patterns and can be loved up for years and years.

Is that because you do a lot of E? ;):stuck_out_tongue: - only joking - good for you man - nice one! :D:cool:

What “E” are u referring to hmmmm??? the tablet variety or “Exercise” by any chance
