One month then I start riding to work!!

Got on month left on my train season ticket til it runs out! then im gonna start communiting on my bike into work.

Does anyone on here ride from the Sidcup/Bexley area into Holborn?

I ride from Crayford, join at the Black Prince up to the end of Tottenham Court Road - I’ll keep an eye out for you mate

I go from Petts Wood to westminster.

what do you ride alta-ego and which route as I go from sydenham to the city via the old kent road.

I’m on an R reg 1998 Naked Suzuki Bandit, red (they call it burnt orange but I like to think of it as red :)).

Has a pretty noisy can on so you might hear me.

I have a silver helmet.

What do you ride?

By the way, I’m still trying to persuade the GF to do the toy run. She’s on a CBT and is worried about riding in London, sure she’ll be fine but hard to convince her at the mo.

I’m going from Plumstead Area to Trafalgar Square, used to go to Holborn, over the Waterloo Bridge and then then Strand Underpass to Holborn, you can get a good bit of speed over there and the bike sounds fabulous in the tunnel… FJ1200 full race cans, Triumph Sprint Full Race can and a VFR750, I taken them all through there and it is WOW!!

I ride from NW London into Holborn, so PM me if you want details on parking, or you want a f2f.

Not seen them for a while but the men in hi-viz taking aim were often hiding just over the brow of the bridge.

Just as well it has been about 5 months since I’ve been that way. I’ve got to watch Westminster Bridge though…

Top stuff!, il give you a heads up when I start riding in… ive gotta invest in some winter riding gear too!

i go from West Malling to The City BUT not when its FRREEEEZZZING or too wet :w00t:

Yours a story I recognise. After many years of train commuting I felt it had got substantially more crowded and horrid in the last year or so so decided to bike into town which I’ve now been doing for six months.

I come up the A2 through Blackwall Tunnel and down commercial Road to the east of the city.

Its a bit of a ratrush so you have to take care but having said that you get to know your own route very well.

I much prefer the ride to the train but just caution you to ride slow and take care. In six months I’ve seen a few wrecked bikes by the side of the road!

Can’t you get a refund on your season ticket and start riding into work on Monday? Having used the train a few times to get to work I wouldn’t suffer it for a second longer than I had to…

I had to take the train in today and by the end of my journey I was just about ready to give up work and go off to live forever in a monastery somewhere! You can almost feel the misery of everyone crammed in around you- and in the case of the tube you can literally feel their misery :w00t:. Every time I take the train it always reminds me why I commute by bike- predicatable journey time give or take five minutes, no slumming it with the masses, wakes you up rather than sending you to sleep, you’re in the great outdoors and last but not least it really is fun dicing with the traffic (in a masochistic sort of way)

Yeah sod the season ticket- get out and commute next week- get some practice in before winter really sets in.

i have commuted fully for 2 years now…

i’m bikeless at teh mo tho :frowning:

i got another week off work, dreading going back bikeless…i HATE! public transport…

yamalot…just go easy mate, get used to route, yopu will find ‘trouble spots’ along teh route where there always seems to be an idiot there! but best advice i can give is…expect teh unexpected!..and ride defensively!

Yep, go easy. I did a recce before I started commuting to work out exactly where I needed to be on the road for all the junctions. It made the morning rush a lot more bearable…

I couldn’t go back to the train now, though. shudder It takes 50 minutes by bike. The train took two hours.
