Just like to put on the record - what a great article and fab snaps. More worthy of press than a lot of articles in the usual bike rags.

Well done all concerned, esp the man himself, and mebbe there’ll be an extra spectator at a round or two next year.

Is there a class for overweight lardy, yet beautifully presented 750’s from the mid 90’s? If so - where do I sign?

Awesome article Oli, I congratulate you on both your writing and your racing. Having followed the Bemsee circus most of the season I can only reiterate how down people felt after the Lydden round. I take it that Croix was not completed by yourself but that again was another downer as another rider died there.

Not even racing this season, but itching to get out there, I sort of went through the old emotional bit myself but I am determined to be out there next year. Hopefully with everything I have learnt this year I shall be mentally strong enough.

I look forward to seeing Oli out there next year and shall be shouting him on again. Lets hope that with the changes in how Bemsee run we are actually at the same track on the same weekends. Roll on party time in the paddock!

Well done mate.Very good article. Sounds like you are having a blast. Reminds me of when I used to help run a little ‘LC’ team as spannerman/frame bender!!/van driver years ago and also when a couple of my customers used to race and we helped/sponsored(small Yamaha dealership) with the labour/parts (one Micheal Neeves ‘MCN’ was one…enthusiastic FZR600 rider…selling frozen foods before Road test idol!!(lucky git)). It makes such a huuuuge difference to have some connection to the guys/gals out there doing it when you watch the racing. Let us all know your dates/places…it makes for a brilliant day out and hey you might even end up with a ‘Rossi’ esque fan club to help celebrate your podiums. Keep it up!!!

I make your words mine Andrew! Olie did an incredible work there! His article is really well drescribed and you can feel that he really did it! I much prefer to read something like that from real people than from people that is diong it becouse the factory is paying him to advertise the machines.

I was tired to see ‘‘impossible to do’’ things from the mags and pay to read it! Don’t get me wrong here I like the mags but I think they lost the touch with the reality, our reality!

Olie, is there to prove where normal people like us can get! Thanks for that mate!

Makes me wanna sign up and start racing myself…

cost wise… whats the deal?

No I didnt do Croix… and as much as it did affect me I choose not to mention Nigel Purden’s tradegy as… well I wasn’t there and I also felt that there isd only so much bad press that can be taken before people really do think we are crazy…

RIP Nigel… ride fee mate

If you have no kit or van at very basic budget level you need 20k… with kit and at same level 10k

Just wanted to say thanks guys for your kind words… I am touched by the responce… All I can say is that racing for me… is life… its the most important thing in my life should I say…

If you do want to get involved please be ready to throw away… yr girlfriends, social life, ALL yr money, and with that you’ll get a lot of organising, huge apprehension about things not in yr control, and the mother of all smiles

be under no illusion that it is all absorbing… all obsesive… all addictive worse than any class A…

Happy days mate

I agree with the others Oli, it was a great article, thanks for submitting it! I’m really glad you did so, as it gives people a look into a world they either are oblivious to, are interested in, or dream about.

I used to work for a very small race team that used to run lotus 7s in the 750 motor cup and I got hooked on that it was the best time in my life.

I would love to work on a bike team but I just dont have the time anymore

Oli… I’m so glad we met at Snetterton… You have followed your dream and made it your life… Hat off to you mate… Takes a lot of strength and courage to do what you have done… I just wish I had the cash, I’d love to give it a go, But boy, do I have a lot to learn!!!

All the best for next season… We’ll all be there to cheer you on…
