OK BE HONEST HERE GUYS !!

I am interested to know from all of us here on forum just how many accidents you have had and how many years you have been riding? Dont include stupid things like “forgot to put side stand down” (not one of mine by the way)…or “Dog jumped up and knocked bike onto you” (yes that DID happen to me)…but just the accident and what happened? Would be interesting to see how many were cos of cagers u turning etc…or people stepping out in front of you?

OK i will start off:

Riding my own bikes 9 years (pillion before that)…been involved and around bikes since a baby (Dad, Brothers)

RTA’s 2…one when fellow rider pulled up REAL hard in front of me, i didnt want to hit his brand new Kawak, and pulled to my right and hit a WALL for a kerb and came off, bashing my right hip (3 mths off work)…other one my recent one hit a pothole and went flying on A24…

So i dont reckon thats bad going really?

I’ve only had the “forgot to put the sidestand down” kinda ones, really Having said that, I’m only in my 6th month of biking…

No Keti, you dont have bike accidents you just bash us bikers up !!! (good right hook)

Been riding since 2001, 21 did my DAS.

Had an accident on the motorway 6 months later in 2002. Two women gassing in a cage pulled out into the side of me at 60mph, took avoiding action, hit the central reservation ate tarmac for about 50 yards, came to a stop with three fracture vertabra (apparently caused by whiplash so severe it split the spinous process on two vertebra and crushed another… yes, am now an inch shorter than I previously was) and a bruise on my ass.

Fekkers drove off leaving me in the middle of the motorway.

My thank you goes out to the white van man (appears they aren’t all tw*ts) who put his van side on to protect me from the traffic bearing down on my sorry slidin ass!

Only one so far, fingers crossed another doesn’t happen… some ask why I still ride… it’s an addiction, arguably safer than drugs, and no after effects when the buzz has finished.

Iv’e been riding for just over 13 years now. had 2 rta’s first one was a cage turned right on me while filtering passed them at traffic lights, that was just after 2 years of riding, 2nd was in belgium I stopped at a crossing and car behind me didnt. Well not till it hit me. That was about a Month after the first

three weeks ago - u-turning fool!

bruised leg, foot, ribs, etc

Little Baby damage £350…

all fixed now and with her Japanese stickers looking better than she was before the off…

oh i started riding in June last year - took a 3 month break - then did my Das in May this year…

Hi Ian? Cor how lucky were you there then? Hitting you from behind? That could have had very different circumstances, as happened recently to a poor biker…(RIP)

Well now, thank goodness it doesnt include the sidestand down or we would be here for ages. Been riding on and off since '82.

  1. After an Enduro in SA riding my bike back from petrol station on pavement (different from UK) and hit a rock in long grass, broke my collar bone and shattered my shoulder blade.

  2. Car reversed out in front of me and hit a retaining wall (bending a scaffold pole in the process). Broken left hand and large chunk out of left leg.

  3. Overtaking a car with a mate as pillion, Merc decided to turn right without indicating. Mate had a VERY sore arse for a while and I broke my wrist.

(All of the above were wearing South African biking gear i.e. T-shirt, shorts and flip flops!!!)

  1. Filtering to go over Battersea Bridge and a stuowdent rode across the road on his bike (SMIDSY), landed on head and wrote off scooter (thing of the devil anyway so was pleased).

  2. Riding into work 3 weeks ago, gave some welly on very sharp corner and highsided, cracked ribs and bruised pride.

Lots, and lots of “offs” in SA in younger years due to youthful enthuiasm including slides, bumps, over handle bars, crashes, bangs and wallops.

I know I was lucky , I just heard this screeck of breaks behind me , all I could do was hold the breaks on and hope he slowed down enough, Had to get new rear mud guard and lights. A fella in the bakers near my accident came out to help me, he was a biker too. helped to pull the mud guard out enough so I could ride it home.

2 - 1 my fault (well oil on the road) and the other was a cager changing lanes without looking on teh motorway…got my money and got a 600

Cars for 19 years and bikes for 10 years and I cover around 15k to 20k per annum…nothing…only the obligatory speeders in my younger days!

ok so u want the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth

well i have started riding at the begining of 2003

and it goes like this

  1. three days after i bought the bike on a mini round about a pepoles carrier ran into my back tyre resulting in me being super man for a sec and landing knee down followed by face…and from experience that hurted …lets say politly ALOT

  2. standing at a red traffic lights and this very kind lady driver decided to turn her stearing wheel just a bit and edge forward while pishing onto my side and i was acctually looking at her in amazment

  3. i was going home down lesson grove and i think i was partly to blame for this as i wasn’t in the concentrating [night dreaming would be the word] anyway this pepole carrier [again they seem to haunt me] decided to stop all of a sudden and i wasn’t going fast prob. around 40mph but my reaction was a bit harsh as i SLAMED the front brakes and THIS PROVED WITHOUT ANY SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT BIKES CAN DO 360’ Degrees

  4. Traveling on the kilburn high road heading north and this other driver coming down from the opposite direction and decided to turn to his right resulting in his front meeting me flat on my right hand side and me flying into the air and doing a full summersault which i thought i can’t perform no longer since my school days but hey accidents can still teach an old dog new tricks ,anyway the might of the impact came onto the knee again and the foot and the lower back from the landing but the knee has have had it by now i thought…

  5. heading home with a mate of mine i was on my first gsxr600 and he was on a new one and i had a friend on as a pillion anyway we were speeding a bit down meda vaile and just by the hilton two cars came from the left side appartently racing each other because they came darting out from the side road unto the main edgware rd anyway it was a question of either i crash right into him or lock the brakes so i choose the later and pushed backward to push my friend back and as the bike was starting skid i jumped backward ended up with a small scuff on the hip and ynder the right knee yet again and nothing happend to my pillion not even a scratch lucky bugger…

  6. this one i rather not talk about as it scared the living daylight out of me…and was my fault

but i know their was someone watching over me every time as i have managed to ride home every single time …thank god for that

and now i am the proud owner of two titanium screws and a clip in my right knee

hope that satisfy ur curiousity

Rode 125’s for a year or so up until 2005 bought a Kwak 500.Dropped that going round a corner on the outskirts of city during torrential rain in Nov05.Van behind me skidded for about 30 yards and came to a standstill about 3 foot from me.Minimal damage to me/bike(Bout £250)Got up and rode up the M1.Traded the Kwak in in May for a CBR6FS2.Binned her on bikesafe few weeks back but got my certificate.I was bruised bike bout £200 to get back to roadworthy.

Cor…thats some scary **** so far !!!

WELL U ASKED FOR IT DEAR

Oh and im expecting LOADS more of similar too !!! Funny how we all get back on bike though? Its like when something says HOT and you say, why does that say HOT and someone says, touch it and find out…and we DO !!

Wonder how many bikers have STOPPED riding cos of accidents that scared them enough?

Or pressure from family to stop?

OR got DIVORCED cos of their bike??? (blimey!)

Err also wonder how many bikers have extra “metal” bits added to their bodies too !!! YUK !!! (poor things)…

I HAVE MET A FEW UP THE ACE WITH LOAD MORE METAL BITS

SOME LOOKS VERY SCARY…TRUST ME

Started in 1998

Wrote off Fazer in 2000 (i think) after panicking going around a bend and running onto the grass. bars dented the tube frame and insurers wrote it off damn them.

Put the cylinder head of my R1100s down too hard in 2002/3 and lifted the back wheel with inevitable ass sliding. Bike fine except for decent shaving from cylinder head. Large scuff on leathers.

And last weekend, mumble mumble, another low speed slide only with R&Gs not massive cylinder heads to protect the ped.

Done approx 18000 on Fazer, 47000 on BM, 26000 on 7r and 4500 on 675. Add that for my miles to date.

Blimey !! We started bout same time and youve had more tumbles than me !! (that makes me feel bit better somehow, so all you “you fell off cos you cant ride your bike” knobheads?..sod off !! mine are stupid “offs” …im happy now !! (smile)…and i bet theres more and better and grislier (cant spell it, is that a word?) than this little lot!
