hi,should be at the market tonight, but dropped me bike at work doing 5mph,kawasaki z1000,55 plate, not much damage bent brake lever and me pride ,or so i thought, went to start it tonite, oil light staying on,engine sounded like it wasnt being lubricated, turn off straight away, bus home, its the same lump as the zxr 900,any idea,s folks, missing me toy already
am i right in thinking if the oil light is on means the oil pump is not working etc?
If it is anything like my Kwak, when that was on the floor, straight back up, oil light on. Thought oh sh*t, got trouble here. Left over night standing up, was fine the next day. Just needed time for the oil to get back into the right places so to speak
You might have damaged the pressure sender or the wiring, take the fairing off and have a look. No idea where it is on your bike but a friendly dealer will tell you free of charge, especially if he thinks you might be needing a new one
The oil pressure switch on a ZX9 is behind the oil cooler plate - would be well worth just leaving it a while for the oil to filter back down to the bottom end and then see if the light stays on.
hi, if the oil warning light dosent go out, there,s not enough pressure in the oil to do so,knackered pump, faulyy switch, or new one to me air lock in the oilways, remove filter start the engine until oil shots out, turn off, then replace filter ,all should be good, touch wood
Could be faulty switch or cable but don’t run the bike with the oil filter removed, that’s guaranteed to damage the engine.
