Loads of truth in your reply. Most are self righteous pricks.
Jay, isn’t your point a bit like ’ we’re all drivers as well as bikers, let’s have a car section on the forum '?
I have a dog so can we have a dogs walker sub forum?
That’s certainly one way of looking at it silverR6. I was looking at it more from the point of view of that we’re a biker forum and biker also means cyclist commonly so it’s not far from our core subject - so could there be interest in hosting some cycling discussions. I don’t imagine we’d attract dedicated cyclists to the community, but we’d certainly get motorcyclists who also ride cycles talking and I doubt there’s much in the way of controversy to worry about. Just a thought and one that we could experiment with if deemed curious enough.
Part of the point of a forum, though, is the collective wisdom of the crowd. You’ll find more knowledge about bicycles on bicycle-specific forums (since that’s where the people with nothing else in their lives hang out) than you will on a motorbike forum. So a cycling subforum here would just be a way for the cyclists of LB to arrange to meet up and the occasional echo chamber (though, admittedly, most of the traffic on the rest of the forum is just arranging for motorbike meetups). It could probably just be a sticky thread.
Oh. My. God.
Insert face palm emogee here.
Sam what I meant by a bike fit isn’t just slinging your leg over the bike lol
It’s getting it properly set up for you.
Seat high
Seat forward or back on the post
Cleats and shoes set correctly
Knee and foot in correct position
Reach set up (the right bar stem)
Yes they started to do all that in the shop, they set the pedals, adjusted the cleats on the bottom of the shoes, put the seat to the height he thought it should be then they got me to sit on it so he could get the seat position correct and that was when he saw the bike wasn’t right for me. he said we will have to go through it all again when the new bike arrives.
A bike fit is often recommended by people on cycling forums, usually a Retul fit like this http://www.planetx.co.uk/pro-bike-fit for over £100 - I’ve never felt the need myself and all of my bikes are set up by ‘feel’ each to their own, some people swear by a proper bike fit but I can think of better ways to drop £150.
There is plenty of advice out there on getting the fit right without spending hundreds of pounds, usually involving some rules of thumb about saddle height etc and getting a friend to check the angle of your knees and so on - this sort of thing http://www.bicycling.com/maintenance/bike-fit/if-bike-fits-buy-it
The fit for this bike is all part of the price, if they wanted to charge me i would tell them where to go!
Cycling’s great, I’ve got a 10 mile commute to work across country and it’s fixing my fitness pretty quick, don’t be shy with the lycra- some of the looks I get are most entertaining!
You’ve changed Brian. North isn’t good for you
Don’t worry Alba, just means I’ve got more petrol vouchers when I get the leathers and the Beemer out;-) Scarborough for chips anyone?
lycra shorts with baggy ones over the the top are the way forward.
Thats what i was going to do, I have bought the Lycra ones with the massive Sanitary Towel inside them and i will wear my Cargo Shorts over the top of those and i’ll buy a proper Cycling Lycra Jersey to wear as a top, that way i’ll be comfortable but not look like a Sausage
Scarborough for chips anyone?
to use a popular (election) catchphrase, Hell yeah. as soon as the weather gets better!
Sam if your after a cycle top check out Aldi at the moment. Tops are ok but the bottoms aren’t all that.
Also got a Garmin 200 edge in my local store too
Cool, i’ll take a look tomorrow. Cheers
Been to stockton for my fish and chips (with scraps) this weekend always worth the 300 mile commute!
Sam have you considered this get up?
That’s what he wears under his leathers normally.
I can’t wear that again, it Chaffs my Balls to much on a Push Bike
You need the crotchless version Sam
