Oh happy dayz.....

The SV is back up and running now thanks to a new chain and the Captain…and he ‘fiddled’ with the clutch, everything running smoothly now

Here’s to tmrw, the sun and being unemployed whoooo hoooooo

PS. Thanks to SteveCBR11XX for the loan of his ‘tool’ :w00t:

Tell me he hasn’t used a spring clip:doze:

http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic391054-35-1.aspx

Eeeerrrmmmm yes he has used a spring clip - am I to assume that that is not a good thing? I bought this chain and sprocket set from a motorcycle spares shop, if this design is no good then why do they sell them?

Does that make sense, I know what I want to put but sounds a bit rambling!

Q from CC(H) - Is is possible to replace the split link with a rivited link somewhere?

See Adz reply on the other thread.

I’ve read the other thread. Is this type of chain no good for an SV650?

I’m now a little worried as I haven’t really got a clue about different types of chains, I just know that it helps to make the back wheel go round as when it snapped it didn’t go round anymore :hehe:

It’s not going to snap is it??? :w00t:

CC(H) says if it wasn’t designed to do that job it wouldn’t be sold to do it.

I just want my bike fixed :crying:

Please don’t take my word for it. Phone any bike shop and speak to the workshop and see what they say.

nice one

dont know what make chain ya got but you should be able to get a rivet link to replace the split one, take chain to local shop they usually have boxes to rummage through to get one to fit.

Oh and be careful wiv me “tool” its delicate

Split link on an SV is definitely a temporary fix.

Take things gently and get somewhere to put the real thing in place.

That said, I’ve known split links to hold on for ever. It’s your choice, but I know what I’d do.

Have just ordered a rivet link, so all is good!

so says the man who thought " that will last till get home" :D:D:P

did ya get pm ?

Yes thanks, will be requiring tool a little longer me thinks!

Thats good, I was just about to move your stuff out to the shed :stuck_out_tongue:

pillion for you on sunday dudette :D:)

:crying: I wanted to go out today! Is it too risky to go for a little pootly round  I promise to take things gently…

There are two directions to put the spring clip. if he’s done it so the closed end faces towards the back of the bike on the bottom run of chain then go easy and dont stress it.If the closed part of the spring clip is facing forwards …Step away from the motorcycle lady!!!

Its the captain we talking about chunks, he prolly used cable ties :w00t:dudette meet us at J&S watford 1300
