Before I took my test I had a Yamaha XT125x which I used to practice on. Now I have passed and have a bigger road bike, I’d like to try some off-road riding on the 125. I know it’s not a very powerful bike, but I figure it’s light and cheapish to repair - both of which seem ideal to me.
The bike I have has 17" wheels, what I want to know is would I be better changing the wheels for a more conventional setup front and back, or would I be better off jsut getting some new tyres for the existing wheels? If so what would be the best tyres for a little light off-road duty, and does anyone know a good tyre supplier?
Also does anyone know any trails in NW London/Harrow/Herts area that would be good for a beginner?
