Oct 3rd - Normandy - Day Trip

Rather than ‘bump’ the old topic full of ‘negativity’
http://londonbikers.com/forums/Topic600193-52-1.aspx

I thought I’d repost with some new details.

In summary, little meets in town in order to meet at the services M20 before taking the FERRY .

P&O 0830 sailing and 1955 return. Current return price is £15

Its not meant as a race, its about enjoying the roads and the country. If you are an experienced tourer, this will not appeal. So far 10 of us are going on a range of bikes ranging from a 15 year old BMW to a brand new ZX-10r. So I doubt our pace will go more than 115-120mph.

New riders welcome.
Pillions welcome.

PM me if you need any further details, and let me know where in London you are as so far we have 6am meets at Ace Cafe and Millwall Football club (oh and one Essex lad meeting at M20 services).

I would advise not to do anywhere near those speeds in that area of France, plod is shithot this time of year and love taking 90euro ON THE SPOT fines from brit bikers:) take plenty of cash! they dont take plastic.

as per the last post on this topic… such lovely supportive, positve, helpful comments.

BUMP!

er… i’m a bit put off by the 115-120 speeds… is this a laugh or are you serious. cant see me doing those speeds on my cbf

To be fair… thats the MAX the slowest bike will do… And he’s unlikey to get that fast as he has a pillion.

Oh, and my old CBF600 did 135

see you Sat morning!

Seconded - I’ve had my CBF600S up to 125 n there was still abit left :w00t:

counts me out too. mine tops out at 90, on the stops, tucked in.

haha i love the CBf they always give me one when i put mine in for a service, great fun, but im always glad to have my baby back at the end of the day!

Glad to have you on board! And others who have PM’d me.

See you at the ace for 6am - fuelled up and ready to go!

No mate… words of wisdom;) ignore at your peril:)

Yes, I’m well versed in French and have received many a speeding fine over there…

I reckon I’ll peak at 125 looking at the route, but I know I’ve got at least one ‘old’ BMW which will ensure I stay slow. I’m going to kick back, wave at the locals and look at the scenery! As each time I hit the speed, I know I’ll have to wait for them to catch up.

Not worried about french police, i have been over loads of times and its the luck of the draw, once i did marsellies to london in a day and did not see a single copper for 1300ks, another time they seemed to be on every bend!

But they are essesntially the same as the british police, only they cannot issue points:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Oh and there is the clear hatered for the English, but thats cost there french and has little to do with anything else!!

The only thing i have my eye on is the weather, but it looks like we may get a bit wet in the morning going to calais but it looks to stay north of france so we should be cool!

Looking forward to it!

they may not issue points…YET but thats coming, also they CAN confiscate your bike if you dont have the funds to pay the fine so why antagonise them by tearar$ing around in groups @ 100+ mph ?

just keep your eyes peeled and you should be fine thats all and enjoy it

+1

I was only just giving words of advice:) If I was not going on the Wales weekender I would be joining you:cool:

Have a good one and enjoy;)

Everyone… I’ve lived in France for 3 years and I’ve learned one key phrase which might help IF the police stop us…

It ruffly translates into “why yes, you can sleep with my sister” :stuck_out_tongue:

Saturdays weather forecast says light rain/drizzle for Nord-pas-de-Calais in the morning and dry all afternoon/evening. Our arrival at 11am should mean we miss it!
