I hope he wins - although people are pinning far too much in the way of expectations on him e.g. he’s not going to change the world - but I think that he will be good for the U.S. for so many different reasons (and by extension the rest of the world). The bottom line is that Obama IS presidential material (unlike the current incumbent) - he has the intellect, charachter, charisma and gravitas to carry the role.
Everyone has their money on him but I’m not counting on anything until I see it in the morning. I have a flight in the morning so getting up nice and early to catch the final result.
Elections are always exciting!
They seem pretty definite on the TV news that Obama has got it more or less in the bag, but I seem to remember them saying the same thing about John Kerry 4 years ago.
Never thought I would live to see a black man become US President. Of course I hope he wins, but equally I hope his security is good 'cos there will be many racist rednecks out to get him.
That’s the really scary bit - I hope he doesn’t end up like the Kennedys/Luther King etc.
I was born in the US, although those who know me, know I sure as hell dont sound yank, and I get to vote in Illinois.
I sent my ballot off last week for Obama and I sincerely hope that the US as a country realise that the last 8 years of republican presidency have brought the country to its knees.
I think that he WILL make an impact on the united states and I hope that the people of the united states see beyond the colour of his skin to see that he is the right man to be the commander in chief of the united states.
so far it doesn’t look like a landslide for Obama, but still too early:crazy:

looking like its going to be a good night for the democrats…200 ECVs so far, with cali sure to go dem, which takes that to 254, he just needs illinois and perhaps one more and that will be it, happy days.
Still going to stay up to see this happen though… not wanting to count the chickens, but thank **** the people are using their brains to vote that shower of shite the republicans out! Also the powers that be that actually swing the elections iether way…ie: oil billionaires etc…have decided that the great hope of the world that is America is ready for a black president now…sure as hell they’re not yet ready for a female president of any colour yet.

Its a scary time in the world, financial meltdown, conflicts on virtually every continent Asia, America, Africa, Europe, and that conflict getting ever more nasty, the one thing we do need is a stable and solid leading country. America for many reasons has become the world power to follow…lets hope Obama can unite it and push it forward beyond the Bush legacy of ‘we have the biggest gun so do as we tell you…’
