Filtering (Lane splitting as the Yanks call it) is not legal in most of the USA. Advocates of Lane splitting point at rear end crashes like this one to show how the motorcyclst would be safer if allowed to lane split. This video certainly makes the point loud and clear. If the biker was in the “normal” lane position, his relatives would probably have been posting this on youtube in his memory.
Think in the future if I want to help another rider, I’ll park up in front of them!!

Been out there, my brother lives in the US
They ALL drive far too close to each other, and they all drive when theyre pissed in the rural areas…
Someone rear-ended my brother at night on the freeway, he drives a hatchback and a pickup smashed into him, carried on shunting him forward so he had to steer between a truck and a central reservation, and then drove straight off from the scene of the accident.
