This attitude annoys me so much, we all end up looking like selfish ****s

Nor me. Nothing they say seems to make sense . . .

Take me to your leader.

Absolute legend Boris … sort 'em out son!

God forbid, a politician holds a personal opinion! Egad!

Quite frankly I’m glad he said it. Motorcycles are already given concessions for riding in London (we get bus lanes to ride in and don’t pay the congestion charge), so why are they moaning about getting a little taken away by annoying hundreds of other commuters who just want to get home? They are instead are being held up by a group of selfish motorcyclists out for their own ends.

Can’t they just shut up and accept that even bikes take up space, and £1 is hardly a large sum of money compared to car parking costs in the city.

When are we forming “Bikers 4 Boris” then??

Jeez, after so long and people still dont get the point. Knee jerk reactions looking at the symptom rather than the cause.

This has been great publicity to the protests though.

Only £1

If WCC gets their way and win the court case, it wont stay at £1 for long, and it wont stay in WCC either, it’ll be nation wide, hitting all the bikers in the country, so ask yourself now who’s being selfish.

In terms of them being knobs, good on em, at least being knobs they also have the balls that go with it to stand up to something.

This will be my last post on this thread - the reasons has been done to death.

I’m not sure that’s what’s at question, I certainly like to think the fear is more that he said it in his official capacity, rather than as a personal remark. Especially since it was more mild threat than opinion.
If anyone else, or perhaps any other politician, had said it I think it’d have been mostly ignored, but because he can, as mayor of London, close motorbike access to bus lanes it was taken in rather poor taste for him to threaten to.

Much as they can it is a reasonable point that the demonstrations are legal, that there is a legal right to do it (even, good Lord, blocking HM highways!) and he’s not got a lot of grounds to demand an end to them.

And, yeah, as has been said ad infinitum, the only real way to protest is to annoy people.

Answer me this: Was it an opinion or a threat?

So, you think these motorcyclists are out for their own ends, huh? Do you not seem to think it has a knock on effect that because some people will stand up for something they believe in, that others won’t in other circumstances?

For the record, I agree with the charging of parking in theory. What I don’t agree with is the hypocrisy in which the scheme was implemented and the blatant lies that were voiced by the relevant department. And it is this reason, I fully back their campaign and their protests. I’m sick and tired of this pathetic, weak mindset which is shown on this (and other) forums in relation to their protests.

But they reduced the fee from £1.50 to £1, that means they’re being nice, right? F*ckin’ LOL. It was reduced thanks to the protests.

ive moved this to current affairs…any problems…pm me…;)…

btw…they speak for me as a london biker…:D.

smiled:).

Boris, what a legend.

Don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for the selfish ****

But I have to thank Boris for the publicity. You couldn’t buy that many column inches and BBC London News minutes if you tried.

I’m newish to London Bikers and I’m really suprised that so many members support such an anti biking measure. Anyway…I support the notobikeparkingtax campaign because:-

I think two wheelers in London should be encouraged because they are anti congestion and (small bikes anyway) much less polluting than cars.

A £1 a day charge may not sound like a lot but if you’re short of cash and commute in on a small bike because you can’t afford public transport or live somewhere awkward then £5 a week is a hell of a lot.

Also, the charge is introducing dangerous precedent. No one pays for bike parking at the moment. If this charge goes through then it’s bound to go up and be taken on by other boroughs - and when it’s everywhere it will be much much harder to stop.

Of course, there’s no point in having a protest unless it’s effective & the sabre rattling from tory Boris shows that it’s hitting home before it’s even happened!

I used to work in W1 for years and found it impossible to park if I got to work any time after 8.30am…and mainly because there were a couple of bikes or scooters left permanently/abandoned in almost every bay…since the parking charge was introduced I have never struggled to find a spot…

could be a coincidence…

I was talking to a friend from back home today … doesn’t see what the big deal is … you’ve always had to pay to park a motorbike in the town centre : http://www.wigan.gov.uk/Services/GettingAbout/Parking/WiganCarParks.htm

So, I wonder, how many other towns do you have to pay …? Westminster clearly isn’t the first and only as I was led to believe …

More lies than a Westminster Councillor :Whistling:

True - if you arrived in Westminster CC area before 9.00 a.m. in the past (before the charge) every bay was rammed and you couldn’t get parked - since the charge it’s become a lot easier to get a spot at any time of day.

If it’s because of the charge then for some of us the introduction of the charge has been a benefit.

can we start calling Boris as BoJo, I keep thinking your talking about me

why’s it a tax?

:ermm:

so you congest the roads with bikes to demonstrate? seems a bit stupid to me.
