Have just been informed that my 3 day trackday jaunt to Jerez on 3rd September has just been cancelled due to low numbers signed up. Well there were three of us going so that was a tenth of the numbers they wanted and a bunch of other foreign track heroes!!! (Company shall remain anonymous despite my annoyance)

So, thats £135 unrefundable flights booked on Ryanair - Check

Travel Insurance - Check

Van laid on to drop two Dukes and a Zuki to the transporters in Cirencester - Check

Cancelled plans to ride down to MotoGP in San Marino to switch to tasty looking trackday instead - Check.

Bleak outlook is not just the weather today. Happy bunny I am not.

Don’t waste the flights and accomodation, get down there for a couple of days R&R in the sunshine.

Trying to get the other two interested in another plan but everyone pretty down to be honest…especially as we already switched plans from the MotoGP ride out.

My feeling is to get down there, hire some bikes and do some off-roading instead. Preferably with a camelbak filled with sherry…

We could even head over to Morocco for the day. At least salvage something from the ashes of our dreams.

Anyone know of bike hire places with decent offroaders in Jerez or Cadiz?

Looking at the possibility of re-booking the trip to MotoGP instead. Ferry costs gone way up likewise Eurotunnel. It’s now £85 Dover to Calais. Bloody parents and their school holidays…

With nothing better to do and two mardy mates not fancying the Jerez off-road hiring option, I’m going to solo tour Europe for a week. Those Alps need a damn good thrashing.

Gutted for ya dude, all that planning and anticipation all out the window…mind you Alice is heading down to Italy on the 3rd, she’s still looking for company for the trip, could be a chance to salvage something from the ashes?

I’d go myself but for 3 things…

  1. passport has expired, must remember to get the form in the post.

  2. money, or rather a lack of it!

  3. my week and a halfs leave finishes on the 4th Sept!

Unless of course my six numbers come up this weekend and then I’ll be going with anyone anywhere for as long as I want!!
