Nooo! Big scratch!

…huge ding and scratch in left hand side of fuel tank. Looks like an anonymous bike bay incident. Its right down to the bare metal in my lovely lava red paintjob! Sooo gutted. :pinch:

Bit concerned about rust. Any ideas what to do in this situation? Touch up paint? Where from? How to get a colour match and laquer? Ho sheeiiiit - brand new bleeding bike, not 6 months old. sob.

Get over it Redster its just a bleeding bike. Bound to happen in bike bays get used to it blah blah blah :frowning:

In the short term, I’d get a touch up pen and put some paint on it, just to seal it and keep the moisture out for now.

Gutted for you…

wax crayon  sounds stupid but that’s pretty much what the turtle wax chip sticks are.wax will repel the water and fill the scratch, get a close colour as you can…

oh damn, if there is CCTV in the area, chase it up to get it checked out.

I get bike bay knocks and scratches all the time.

Picture?

I’ve used a mobile fella who works for Chips Away to sort out dinks in cars before. He said to me that they can match bike colours as well.

It’s a proper job at a fraction of the cost of a respray.

Have a look for your local Chips Away on yell.com:slight_smile:

Thanks LB’ers for your responses! I have no idea which bike bay it happened in and only noticed it when cleaning today (its out of view from the riding position and was partially obscured by muck, but its about 5 inches long and deep with paint flecks either side). I dont have a digi cam atm so no pics. Will definately try the wax crayon thingy!

Still its a bitch but i bet its not the last time it happens… :frowning: If I ever catch any fecker dropping stuff on/moving my bike in a bike bay they will be quickly and remorselesly castrated using only a serving spoon.
