Noisey pipes? ... this guy has a point ...

… and I just bought a noisey pipe!

too much moaning minnies around these days

The driver of a vehicle should always be ‘aware’ of what is going on around him, so who is at fault?

The person with a loud can,… the driver that is not concentrating on driving,… or a third person putting themselves in a position in which is dangerous to other road users?

‘Awareness’ is the key!

I dunno making people aware that I am there with noisy pipes is way forward IMHO.

hhmmm…in short…this guy rides a goldwing!!!

smiled.

All I think of is the time a mate and I were filtering clockwise around the M25 in rush hour to Maple Cross. He was on his CBR6RR with a standard can and I was following him on mine with my ART twin pipe. All I needed to do was rev the engine and the cars parted like the waves with Moses! I’d like to hear the “loud pipes don’t work” brigade confronted with those facts!

I feel much safer on my R6 then the old CG125 because it is a lot louder. Mostly car drivers hear me now when I am filtering even though I was told at the weekend that my bike is very quiet. At least other road users can hear us when we are coming even if they can’t see us (which seems to be the norm).

what a fluffer - fell asleep reading that

accidents are all close to head on for him cos they dont have corners and harleys can’t steer

i’m keeping my cans…

If that were true then how come I can hear bikes with race cans coming past my office all day. I hear them when they are approaching the building so they are in front of me and when they have gone past the building.

Utter bollox in my opinion lol

Plus dont forget when your at the ace and you can hear the bikes coming from Hanger lane too!

Well … I’m still gonna put my Yoshi on my bike … you know it makes sense!!

Dont forget headlights as well, when I was despatching I could actually notice when I had accidentally switched my headlights off because so many more people were pulling out/changing lane on me - the difference is that noticeable. In bright summer sun full beam works nicely

As for pipes, they do help, however if you actually use the bike I reckon you are at a greater risk of getting caught/nicked for speeding. The number of times I have been spanking it with a std pipe, come around a corner and found a surprised plod who just had time to give me a “just slow it a bit mate” floor wave whereas with a spunky race pipe, they tend to hear you 5 miles away and have time to set up speed trap, roadblock, backup cars & bikes, stinger, Interpol etc etc

Agree with you re 99% of goldwing owners ****************ing 2 wheeled caravans - burn em all !

If I am commuting then I take the baffle out along with an HID Kit its like moses parting the sea

good man sp…be rude not too…

smiled.

utter twoddle, of course loud pipes make a difference, you can hear them a mile off

Comparing loud pipes to drum and bass music is rubbish as well, I like the sound of nice pipes on a car or bike.

I say keep 'em before the EU rules that bikes need no more than 50 bhp, enjoy it while you can , bikes will be outlawed soon

All that writing is rubbish when u stand on the pavement and a bike comes along with a loud pipe every one looks around and sees what it is it doesn’t just come out the back and stay there it deflects off other things and goes every where and the louder it is the more you hear.

Step away from Akrapovic, BabyJ! Nah, put it away, you’re not putting it anywhere near my bike, James! Some of us don’t like making pedestrians and other road users deaf.

I dont really care what the tree hugging EU say…or anybody else for that matter…every ones heard my can…and its as loud a poss…the reason is simple. My first big accident occured because someone walked out into the middle of the road on a blind left hander…he didnt see or hear anything coming so thought it was safe. I t-boned him and sent him 20 feet into someones front garden…so for some tree hugging muppet who probably has a nice loud lawn mower to say that loud cans dont save lives is utter and complete bocks!

ahhh come Paivi baby…just some cute booming shiny carbon can pleeaaaaase

Pardon, babyj I heard a muffled murmer…did you say something?

of course its better to be heard, just dont give it 10,000 rpm in residential areas at night, somebody take the pratts soapbox and smack him over the head with it…

Good discussion. I like loud pipes because they sound cool and there’s a performance benefit, but try to balance it by not unecessarily pissing off other road users with it.
