No t&t, ridng legalities

Now might be buying a bike with out mot or tax, now wot is the legalities in riding it?

Was gonna ride it home but dont think will do that, taking me chances there i think but, i know your allowed to ride bike to mot station without mot if ya got it booked in etc but does that count if you got no tax too? Cant get tax without mot ticket.

john

I suspect strictly, technically, the only way you’re supposed to move that bike is on a trailer. Although… if you don’t get caught, who cares? And as long as you have some insurance cover, I think the fine in the event you DO get caught will be minor… It’s no insurance they are hot about, not road tax.

So… good luck, whatever you decide to do. As I’m a cheeky git I’d probably arrange insurance cover and take my chances…

Check your insurance small print though cos AFAIK some are invalid with no MOT :ermm:

Did you go for the slabby in the end?

It’s your gamble mate. It depends how lucky you feel.

If its a fair distance I would find a man with a van or trailer:)

You can only ride it on the road to an MOT testing station with a pre-booked appointment.

Your chances of getting caught with No Tax are actually quite high now due to various campaigns being waged by the DVLA. Your best bet in my opinion is to either trailer it or book an MOT for it on your way home.

If caught with no tax the DVLA are likely to seize the bike and you will have to pay a fine, the recovery charges, and pay for your tax before you get the bike back.

yeah wot i thought actually.

Must admit was’nt gonna ide it home, bout 15 mls from through cen london etc, not a good idea, lol.

Will get it here and do the mot book in route, was more worrying about riding it to mot st with out tax.

Chunky: no slabby m8, looks like gonna be a 600 srad.

The police can not do you for no tax, they can just report you to the DVLA. So as long as if you get caught, you have taxed the vehicle to a point prior to getting caught, you should be fine. Been there, seen it, done it, got the T shirt etc.
