They SAY you can do it by phone without the reminder document but I’ve never managed it - without the reference number on the reminder letter you keep being put back to the start.
Shiver - try a Post Office - take your reg doc as well as the usual insurance & MOT. Do it ASAP and if they can’t do it make them give you a number to phone for help. As MRC said above, it has to be a “main” Post Office.
You can deffo do it online without the reminder, but you’ve got to have the registration document as that has the reference number they’ll ask for. Have been there myself and it’s fine.
strangely enough I got a “last reminder” from DVLA that one of my cars should have been taxed as of the end of LAST month yesterday! needless to say I got online and taxed it ASAP never saw any previous reminders though?
As the other guys have said, you can either use the reminder or the document ref humber of the V5. If you don’t have the V5, you can get one within a week, then tax it immediately.
That’s not to say that the evil untaxed bike snatchers won’t nick it in the meantime, so careful where you park it.
