New Honda CB500 replacement for 2012

Was in the Honda dealership near my brother’s a couple of weeks ago, and the salesman mentioned that Honda might be introducing a twin-cylinder middleweight in 2012 - someting which would be along the lines of the all-rounder CB500.

Anyone heard anything about this? :alien:

I’ll ask my m/c journalist contact, he often knows stuff a year in advance.

He’s a bit slow on the replies as he road tests bikes by taking them on two or three day trips. Well, mostly. A few time a year he takes seven or ten day trips to Italy/Spain/Ireland/wherever if he gets his hands on the right bike.

alright for some ain’t it?

isn’t that just a cbf500?

wasn’t there a Honda 300cc bike that was only sold abroad?

VTR250?

Knew it would appear in the press eventually. Here’s an article from the comic known as MCN…

77mpg still not that impressive when you’ve got cars knocking out that kind of fuel consumption these days, but it’s a start. As one of the commentors on the MCN page says - dump the DSG & chain in favour of traditional manual and a shaft-drive, hydraulic tappets & longer service intervals.

Don’t know if it would tempt me. New & used prices seem silly at the moment, but I’m def considering the BMW G650GS for next March. A plodder but should hopefully last the distance once the early teething probs are sorted and should be pretty economical to run.
