New bike?

Hey everyone, just joined up. Live in Hertfordshire, currently been bikeless for 2 1/2 years, it’s been terrible so I’m looking to get one again. My old bike was an 03 R1, loved it.

I’m looking at either:

2007 GSXR1000

2007 R1

2002/3 R1

What do you guys recommend? I’d love another 03 R1 in blue but just can’t find a decent one.

Cheers

Ross

2007 R1!

try and get a test ride on both, both of those bikes are massively capable, and it is just down to what you prefer. If you had an R1 before, then you will probably want one again

Have a look in our bikes for sale section, there is a very nice R1 going there…

Maybe this might help.

Thanks guys, I will possibly see about getting a test ride and I’ll take a look at that one.

I do generally prefer Yamaha however I had heard the k7 gsxr was a great road bike and unless the 07 R1 is tuned its a bit gutless at low rpm.

Would wait for the 2011 R6 which is supposed to be a mini M1 rep but don’t think I can really wait that long and miss another summer of riding!

sorry mate, but you cant call a 170hp bike “Gutless”, that does 100mph in first gear.:)On e-bay, there is 2 mint 03 R1s… I bought an 03 R1 for £2800 with 8k miles on the clock.

Not sure what happened there!

I didn’t mean gutless, just not as much low end grunt as the 03 model, I probably wouldn’t notice much lol.

Nice one to get an 03 with such low miles for that price!

Well finally found one! I pick up my 2007 R1 tonight, in blue…imaculate!

£5700 with 6045 miles and a couple of mods.

I have a question though, on the rear shock were a few dry oil drops, I wiped them off and it wasn’t visibly leaking…should that be ok?

The guy also mentioned that if you turn the bike off and try to start it back up right after it sometimes doesn’t start first time. He said the dealer thought it make just be the electronics, pump etc needing a min. What are anyone elses thoughts?

Cheers

not sure about electronics, but maybe oil drops were chain lube?
