Been looking at getting a new pair of leathers soon.
What do people think of Arlen Ness or Furygan?..
I don’t like Dainese or Alpine Stars, but what be interested in other recommendations.
Cheers.

arlen ness suits look the nuts and sum of the top racers ues them so the must be good
hein gereck has got a a range starting from about £600 they do a blue and white suit that would look the nuts on ur r1 fella
i`d buy a set
Hideout all day long:)
They do a great range of “Off the peg” as well as “Made to Measure”
They will alter off the peg stuff for that perfect fit too:)
Arlen Ness suits are very good. As pointed out above, many racers can be seen in them. But, you can get better value for money by buying a made suit. I wear MJK leathers, to my own design. Cost about £750. Less leather than your usual because mine are kevlar lined. Certainly crash tested them a few times, and they always did the job for me.
AN are meant to be very good leathers, but “top racers wearing them” really means nothing. They are sponsored/paid to wear them by the manufacturers, likewise helmets. Do you think any top racer would happily wear Nolan helmets ? iirc Melandri got in trouble recently for wearing an Arai he had bought and had sprayed with Nolan logos… likewise, there has been more than one who wore sponsors brand leathers that had another [altogether more crashable] name inside …
Thanks a lot peeps…Either of these will be my next suit. Hopefully wear it for Mallory (just gotta stop eating pies so I can squeeze into it ). The second one is actually Kangaroo hide so is :w00t: …not cheap. Ahh well…Neither is my ass…and I don’t mean that in a homosexual way

For mid-price off the peg stuff then Furygan is excellent stuff, I’d be far happier crashing in them than the more trendy stuff like Alpinestars, Dainese etc…
The AN stuff seems to be OK from having looked at it in HG, dunno how well it crashes though.
If you want the best though, then it’s simply got to be BKS
Top racers get paid to wear certain brands, because they are sponsored. The suits they wear, will not be the off the peg jobbies that mere mortals will purchase. Club racing is where you really want to look, these guys are not sponsored to wear clothes (usually). You will see a variety of gear on show that people use. There are a fair few club racers who wear Arlen Ness, and I have seen it crash tetsed, its been fine.
I think Rasta has crash tested Arlen Ness a few times, lol
I think BSB and perhaps WSB use the same gear that me and you can buy…GP is in a totally different league.
They wear double skin suits I think…I know they wear double skinned boots like the new ones Alpinestars are bringing out.
I have seen what looks like Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots worn by Colin Edwards though I think, but there’s probably some other type of material behind the outer shell.
That’s actually the best advert a set of leathers can have
‘Crash tested by Rasta’
I’ve crash tested both Furygan and Alpinestars. I wouldn’t buy Alpinestars again after lowsiding at 10mph the stiching on the knee came apart and the stretch panels don’t give enough for me, one piece suits may be better but I’m not willing to spend north of £500 to find out. Furygan are great, thick grain leather, however iirc I’m not sure they make one piece suits and the two piece have only a 3/4 zip which isn’t good enough for track use Next kit I get will be from Arlen Ness. Worth looking at Berick as they’re made in the same factory aparently and are cheaper.
Alpinestars and Dainese are too designer and not enough safety for the same price as an equivalently priced suit made by a less fashionable label…I hate paying for a name, I go for leathers that just do what they’re supposed to.
Try out sizes n styles in shops - then off to e-bay world and save a fortune.
Just got sent this from HG, Sale price …£599 down to £399
Probably only sizes left available are NBA Basketball player, then nothing smaller till you get to Midget, Dwarf and Pedrosa but you never know…
P.S. it’s Moo, not Roo
Arlen Ness LS-3257-AN
Arlen Ness has very quickly become a major player in the sports leathers sector. Their suits have proved hugely popular with our customers and plenty of superbike and MotoGP racers too. The LS-3257-AN is a beautiful example of precision cowhide engineering. With CE protectors, an aerodynamic back hump, Kevlar stretch panels, knee-sliders and an amazing fit, to try one is to buy one. Especially at this crazy price!
