Need some Help Making a Ducati Monster Tail Light

Hi,

I own a 2001 Ducati Monster 600M and i am looking to do a tail chop mod and install a LED Tail Light.

I have searched the web with no joy in the UK, and our friends over in the USA are no help, those who stock them don’t send to the UK and others are no help with exactly what I need…

hopefully I have attached an image of the look of the light i want, however it needs to be flexable enough to go round the seat of the monster!

can any one help!

thanks in advance

Have you thought about making individual leds and drilling them through?
Or getting some smoke/clear perspex cut to size and dropping them behind?

this seller has these LED strips in white red and amber, might be able to use em???

Hey, thanks for the replies!

I was looking to make them, i am not that bad at putting things on, however making one without any wiring guides/ instructions might be a bit ambitious - but if anyone has done this pleas let me know!

RE the tail light I want the “Red Running Lights”, “Red Break Light” and the “Amber Indicators” as an all in one!

I have found a lot of LED indicators amber strip like the one from Ebay - but the look is a bit harsh i dont want the LEDs to be visual!

Thanks again!

They are fairly easy to make, I’ve found it best to work in a parrallel circuit , cos’ if your using a series and one blows the lot do.

I’ve just done a trike - tail/brake and indicators. Looks good.

You’ll probably need 3mm leds (smallest I think) and some 470 ohm resistors. You can bulk buy them on Ebay. I think they’ll be listed as working with 12volts.

If you want the brake and tail to work out of the same led you’ll have to restrict the tail light to something greater than a 470 resistor so that its running at 60% and when the brake in active 100%

Or you can stagger them?

Choice is yours

Thanks Diablo

I was wondering if you have a wiring guide that you used on your trike or something along those line that could help me in my 1st attempt, i have an idea of the parrallel circuit, but its the attachments of the ohm resistors is where I’m going to trip up… havent done D&T since school and that was a while ago!

I think staggering the lights will be the best option as it is probably the easiest option!

Sure no problem, I’m hoping to get to the BM meet this Wednesday not sure if you can make it, if not I’ll draw you a diagram. Are you able to solder?

My mate used a set of those ones from ebay for indicators, theyre really flexible as theyre encased in silicone and the guy can make em to legth if you email him
