NEED ADVICE PLEASE!

A friend of mine told me today he has put £100 deposit down on a second hand bike (125) which sounds very dodge to me - before he slaps the other £2k down have strongly advised he hets the bikes ID checked out. Sales guy was “in a rush” and told him only had one owner. But when he was looking at documents etc there were 2 owners listed. This isn’t a private sale - its a bike shop on Shepherds Bush Rd.

My mate said the bike was dirty but seemed ok!!!

Can anyone tell me name of ID company he can use? I did one before buying my CBR600 some 5yrs ago but cannot remember the name…please help.

It’s called an HPI check

If you’re a member of AA/RAC they might do a good rate for members, alternatively

£2100 sounds like a bit of a wad to chuck down on a dirty 125!!! Tell your mate to wait, if he is paying that for a 125 he can hold out for a better deal somewhere else.

Check out MME Motorcycles on 0207 7296 404 kelvin the guy there is a genuine guy with bikes at proper prices, and specialises in 2 stroke 125 mitos…

Ummmm - give me the Reg (pm please) and what bike it is - i work at george whites, and we have an HPI account, i’ll check it out for you (no charge)?? What dealer is it from??

There was a CBR125RR for sale in the Bike section.

…now sold… but if you stick a wanted add up you’d probably get another for a lot less then dealer price!

Could be two owners if the bike was pre-registered by the original dealer, which isn’t uncommon.

If he’s buying it from a dealer, he has a come back. It’s when ur buying privately your buggered. Having said that if the salesman couldn’t be bothered and the bike wasn’t presented well, I’d have walked well away- esp at that price.

HPI! That was the one I used - thanks everyone for your advice and offers - brilliant! He is getting checked as I speak. Thanks again to you all…:wow:

Cub,

I’d agree with what the other guys have been saying - i think your mate needs to look around cos there are really good 125s out there for way less than £2100…

and in fact a brand new CBR only goes for about £2500…
