My cbr 600 fx chain is comming to its end. The mechanic who put it checked it and advised to remove one link and he assured me it will be safe. He says there is still life left in it. what do you guys think because I have heard many bad stories about saving money this way.
I will replace that chain. It’s maybe more expensive but it’s safer. Your personal safety is more important that a couple of quids. Maybe you don’t love your family enough? 
I’m not a guru, it’s just a common sense isn’t?

There is no safety concerns over the removal of a link as long as the chain is still in a serviceable condition and it’s carried out using a new soft link. It only needs the tiniest amount of wear in the rollers and pins over 100 or so links to cause that amount of stretch in a chain.
You can check the overall condition of a chain easily by grabbing the back of the chain where its wrapped around the rear sprocket and pulling it backwards. If it comes away from the sprocket it is too worn. if there is only a small amount of movement it’s safe to take out a link.
Another way of checking wear is to take the chain off the bike, lay it out straight on the ground, grab each end and and try to bend it in an arc. if there is more than 100mm of bend between the ends and the middle it is too worn and needs replacement.
depends upon riding style and how much you think you can save…assuming it can be saved and a good check is to see how lose it is on the sprocket itself, if it is reallly lose, then its not really very good.
My bandits chain is about knackered too and i could stretch it out for another 500 miles if i took it steady no jerky gear chages or dropped clutch wheelies (NOT THAT I DO THAT OF COURSE) and it may be fine but instead i spent 90 quid and bought a new chain and sprocket set…bingo job done…cheaper than spending a fortune on chain lube and the like…

I’d ride with alot more confidence knowing that my money was invested in a sound chain.
Who wants to have any sort of doubt in their mind about the integrity of a key component of the machine while out on a ride?
Like all mechanical moving parts there is a service limit within which is perfectly safe.
When was the last time you measured your brake discs with a micrometer? I bet they are worn but you don’t replace them at the first signs of wear do you?
By all means replace the chain if it makes you feel better, but there is no safety issues with removing one link from a half used chain:)
