My Zoomer -- pictures

Here are some pictures of my Zoomer - Honda’s li’l 50cc four-stroke monster. It’s the first scooter you can ride without looking like a poof. I’ve modified it with a new can, new CDI with higher redline, different air intake and different gearing and it really hauls ass now. On flat ground it manages almost 50mph instead of the stock 27mph.

Great fun overall – very low center of gravity, you can stick it in the turns until you grind the center stand on the fat tires, and the sound of the Polini exhaust with the dB-eater ripped out sounds like something MUCH BIGGER is about to run you over.

Sadly I’ve seem to outgrown it now. The girlfriend keeps bugging me to get on the back and go on road trips outside London. It’s really too small for either, so I’m now looking to move up to a CB 500 and I’ll have to reluctantly sell it cause I can’t afford keeping both. I might be faster on a bigger bike, but I won’t look this cool!

Since the pictures were taken I’ve trimmed that duck tail off the rear fender and removed the mirrors which gives me superb filtering capabilities – the widest point on this bike are your shoulders, and you can always pick it up and lift it over a kerb since it only weighs 84kg.

Check out my “50cc Ghostrider” vid over on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tiCF8YPKU8

If you fancy it, I’ll post it up over in Classifieds.

Cool as!!

Mental !!!

Sorry man, English is my second language. Of course I mean with those fat tires, you can grind your center stand on the pavement no problem. Being a relatively new rider I’m still chicken-shit obviously but I get cockier every day.

I like it! I can imagine SP on with in Camo colours with a side-mounted rocket launcher. A lot of racers use these as paddock bikes nowadays I’ve noticed.

“50cc Ghostrider”

Hahahaha its like going round london but really slowly

Cool looking little ped though, do they do a 125 version?

Hahahah… LOOOL I knew that one was coming! duck You cheeky bastard… yeah, yeah, rub it in

While I’m not likely to be pulling wheelies at the Chelsea Bridge with this thing on Friday nights, I’m sure having a lot of fun, and learning some valuable riding skills that will come in handy when I get a fiercer motor… and then we’ll see mate

Until then, I should film “A Tribute to the Black Prince”… Around the M25 on a Zoomer in 8.7 hours… it will be epic… the most boring footage in the history of moving image… eight hours of rrrrrrrrrr…

Hehe go for it man. As long as it puts a smile on your face it’s top banana !!!

Oh hell yeah, I have a big permagrin riding this thing, it’s amazing how something so slow can be so much fun!! I already know I’ll miss the li’l bugger sorely when I sell it on.

To answer an earlier question, no, Honda doesn’t make a 125 of this. I reckon this is where they blew it. This bike with a 125 four-stroke engine, proper disc brakes and a better rear shock and it would be the Business.

They make a 250cc version for the U.S. market with a similar, but not the same, design, but it sucks. You can get much better 250’s for $5000 and it only goes 70 mph. At least it has a proper pillion seat, but it’s too much plastic for me.

I love the stripped down look, it’s kind of a Naked Scooter. Plus less body panels for the kids to steal

Saying that its only the 50cc boys you see pulling wheelies down at chelsea bridge lol.

Hey was that you on friday night down chelsea bridge???

Yeah me and a few others where down there quite late last night

I went whizzing past there a few times – first on the Zoomer, then a couple of times on a monkey bike. Our base is just south of the bridge, and we generally are quite busy working Friday nights…
