*Or it is considered too dangerous to let me loose on casualties (or victims as the French member of the medical team insists on calling them).
Day two of being a Medical First Responder at Wimbledon for the the Olympic Tennis and I have been promoted to Medical Despatch.
That means instead of walking miles every day on a 12 hour shift applying plasters to blisters, telling people to take antihistamines for insect bites and bringing people round after fainting at the sight of blood I get to sit in the Wimbledon Control Room with this view and liaise with the army and security on my right and London Ambulance Service , London Fire Brigade, and the Police on my left in front of 60 screens of CCTV to deploy appropriate resources to any incident and communicate that to the medical teams.
We also have a 61st screen that shows sport!
