Sorry Badger thats bad news keep your eye open for that reg have the police gotten any info from it yet ???
Dude i am so sorry to hear about your loss
I know how you feel, the b*stards got my new ZX6 in August, it was literally a week old! At the end of teh day it is only a bike and you will get the insurance money, but that still does not make up for it.
Plod were useless when mine got nicked, they actually told me to get in teh car and drive about too see if i could find it, insurance company later told me that 18 bikes had been lifted that night from my Area, West Norwood, Plad cared not a jot.
Tall Paul
Sorry to hear about this - I really hope the culprits are caught and hung out to dry.
Thats crap mate, I know how it feels, I certainly couldn’t look at it as just another possesion. It’s more than that to me, and I’m still waiting on insurance money for mine, and even when (if?) it turns up I’m still losing out.
I’d love another R6 but they are so highly targeted by theives i won’t get one (probably)
Wouldn’t want to go through all that again, and then would anyone want to insure me?
If the theft was all on camera then there must be some ID of the thieves, the ones that nicked mine were a gang of black guys.
It’d be interesting to know the details of Vinny’s theft, see if theres similarities.
There can’t be that many organised gangs out there stealing bikes surely.
Or is the lack of police interest so obvious to every thief that they’re all jumping on the band wagon??
wounder mate. feel for ya
Real sorry to hear of the loss. You will probably find that the van was stolen as well and didn’t have the correct plates on it anyway.
A Mate had his GSXR600 stolen in Kingston a few months back. Thieves in white van just stopped and physically lifted it into the back of the van. Number plate was got. Strangely, the police sting operation reported in MCN a bout 6 weeks ago where they netted the crims was the same van that got his. It had different plates on but the same reg plate that had been visible when his was nicked was in the back of the van.
Police targetted bike thieves just before crimbo and netted a few, looks like there are plenty more to go.
Oh Hennessy, we´re so sorry to hear about your bike The only way to deter thieves is to keep the bike out of view and use a GOOD chain to lock it to something solid (Abba locks come to mind). I hope the insurance pays out quickly. Try not to worry about it all too much, and don´t take it personally, no matter how it may feel.
All the best with getting on two wheels again… (go gixxer)
Hennessy … what can I say that hasn’t already been said … gutted for ya mate!
I just hope your insurance company treats you well & gets you sorted out with some new wheels!
So sorry to hear about the bike. There’s far too much of this going on lately. The thieves had better hope that the police catch them before the bikers do!
Here’s hoping you get a quick payout and something nice to replace it with!
Tony,
You have made some very good and valid points.
MAG do a lot, see below. But, not enough.
MAG puts its Money Where its Mouth Is
Issued 20th September 2004
The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has paid out a reward of £500 to Wirral motorcyclist Keith Buck for his effort in combating motorcycle theft. Buck, who was approached by a thief with an offer of stolen parts, relayed his suspicions to police with whom he co-operated by viewing an ID parade which resulted in a successful prosecution.
Mr Buck attended the inaugural seminar of the MAG Foundations on motorcycle crime at the University of Warwick on Saturday to receive his cheque from MAG President Ian Mutch who underlined the importance of people co-operating with the police in order to challenge the scourge of motorcycle theft.
Ironically, due to an error, the defendant in this case was handed Buck’s full details and he and his family have been the victims of a hate campaign of violent threats and vandalism that has lasted for months.
Despite the serious nature of the offence, the thief received only a six month curfew order. Wirral police declined to provide MAG with the name of the felon for publication in the group’s newspaper. Buck also met resistance in trying to discover when the thief was likely to be freed and assumed that he must have been when the campaign of vandalism resumed after a respite.
MAG argues that sentences for motorcycle theft do not reflect the great hurt and inconvenience that the offence causes. MAG Spokesman Ian Mutch said, "In an age when road users are losing their licenses and possibly their living for a series of minor speeding offences, the leniency with which bike thieves are treated represents a glaring inconsistency in the application of justice. In short - the law’s a joke and is framed to protect the interests of criminals at the expense of honest citizens.
MAG is campaigning for a review of sentencing policy as part of its’ Campaign for Real Justice. Those who support MAG’s aims should contact the group via Tel: 0870 444 8448 www.mag-uk.org
