Here she is. A 1988 FJ1200, pretty much standard, except for engine bars, progressive springs, heavy duty clutch and heated grips. Just looking to add R1 Front Calipers and a flip screen if funds permit.
Just fitted Avon Azaro ST’s and they grip very nicely. Very easy to commute on, goes well enough when poked and is fantastic for touring.
I have since cleaned her up, but aftermarket exhausts are not going to happen. Too expensive sadly, especially as Taxman says I owe £2600 in overpaid tax credits I did not ask for! Stinks really.
Need matching mirrors as the bike was reversed into. Broke fairing, left mirror and bits here and there. I’d love to do more to the bike, but sadly finances dictate otherwise. I commute and there is harsh reality that I will not recoup any expenditure in doing the bike up, so to speak. Still, it goes from A-B with great alacrity when required and is able to keep with the general flow of traffic. That is if the general flow of traffic does 0-60 in 3 secs…
That is what I’m hoping. The engine is pretty much bullet proof and it has racked up some 69,000. I’ve got to get it to the Fudge workshop down Gloucester way to get it fully serviced etc as it very likely needs it. Just need a spare £250 or so to get that done. Fork oil, shims, valves, carbs, linkage etc etc… But it is really worth the money!
Nice one makman, that sort of bike will run forever with reasonable servicing. Designed to tour the world in its hayday no doubt. Thanks for sharing the pic…
