Strewth ! This things got some pull ! Triumph Daytona 600…yeah I know it’s not an R1 or Busa but for a first bike it’s got plenty of grunt, more than I expected
Up to 6k nothing much, then at 8k it gets a bit quick and 10k feels like a different bike and I haven’t dared go past 11ish today, at least not on full throttle.
It’s got a Yoshi RS-3 can which has got to go, it’s making me deaf, my ears are ringing after a 10 minute ride. I’d like a carbon can, deep base sound but not too loud. Any recommendations ?
Couple of notes to self:
Car and van drivers are wank*rs when it comes to bikes. When I drive a car I don’t barge into gaps already occupied by a bike so why do other drivers ? I was riding slowly and getting used to the bike today (mostly ) so nothing anti-social or difficult but twice I could have been punted off the road had I not been looking properly.
Also the bike seems to take a change in throttle in a bend as an indication that I’d like to dismount, need to re-train wrist and brain and have a word with the bike
What a great day though, fantastic, great weather and a load of fun !
Sounds like you are having fun. You do need to keep an eye out though, someone shunted me in traffic last week. Not hard enough to knock me off, but it was bloody annoying. I was fortunately at a standstill with both feet on the ground. Nice choice for a first bike!
Will do but it’s eBay item 260129974966 if you want to have a look now. Only fault is a blown indicator bulb which I think happened on the ride home. The ride home was one of those once in a lifetime feelings when you experience something genuinly new. Opening it up for the first time was another Fantastic.
Thanks, the pictures don’t really do it justice, the top fairing looks faded but it’s really a nice deep red same as the rest, kind of like Ferrari red. The undertail is really neat. Have got a gel seat and bigger screen to fit then a change in exhaust.
I had a Red Daytona until last year, my first sports bike, and loved it, I still miss it.
I can recommend the Triumph Aeroflow screen, look out on e-bay for one as they are £90 from Triumph! I had a Blue Flame tro oval can on mine and it sounded the nuts, nice deep throat growl to it but not rediculously loud. I also fitted a power commander and got an extra 10BHP out of it which made a hell of a difference to the top end.
Also get it on the track as it is so stable and confidence inspiring, this is me @ Brands last May
Thanks, I’ve found a Triumph dealer selling off some carbon race cans cheap so I’ll get one of those, apparantly they’re not too loud and bearable long distance. Anybody want to buy the RS-3 ? I gather they also fit 1998ish ZX6’s and some Bandit 1200’s, bolt on type.
