My new Arai

[rant]After ten years (about) of happy Arai ownership, I bought a new Arai Condor last April. It mists up at the first sign of damp or cold and it must be the worst lid I’ve ever bought. In the rain at night I know I am going to hit something sooner or later – I just can’t f’king see! [/rant]

[rant again]The vents are impossible to operate with gloves on …[/rant again]

[stop him someone]… and is it noisy or what??? [/OK he’s stopped]

[aagh!!] and I payed well over the effin’ odds [/aagh]

use a foggy mask i use it on my arai no probs with mistin up:)

I have an Arai Condor and I too seem to remember it misting up easily. I bought a clear pinlock insert. Best money i’ve ever spent (well almost!;))
Can close my visor when i get on the bike and dont open it till 15 miles later when i get to work. Heartily recommended.

I have a pinlock insert - it’s not exactly optically clear although it does stop the misting. I took it out as its lack of clarity was almost as bad as misting in the first place.

I’m going to buy an Arai breath guard that fits inside the helmet. See if that makes a difference…

Strange as mine is clear and its like its not there, only on the odd occasion do i get a bit of glare. :hehe:

Had my Condor for nearly 6 years and never had an issue with it, try leaving the visor open a few mm

same here… condor with pinlock, never had a problem with misting…

although i have had to adjust the pinlock screws every now and then to ensure its sealed all over

Another vote for Pinlock:D

I’m a pinlock fan too. Make sure the insert isn’t scratched, if it is, just replace it with a new one. Also make sure it’s sealing properly.

I have always used Arai’s with Fog City or Pinlock inserts.
They can’t be faulted.

Are you sure you have removed the protective film from the Pinlock insert? I’ve known a few people not realise they have to do that:D:D:D

It’s much clearer once its removed:D

My Astro R is pinlocked, fully recommend.

My Astro-R just broke on me today in traffic!! Left hand panel covering the visor mount came away while riding and as a result I can’t attach a visor. Pinlock insert worked great until this unique unmisting incident

Any idea what my rights are in terms of returns as it’s less than a year old, has been treated with care and I’ve had no offs.

There seems to be a common fault with the Left Pods on Arai lids. Mine exploded on me in the summer and I know AndyP had probs too.

Take it back to a 5 star Arai Dealer Doc:cool:

Cheers chunky, will do. Did you have to buy a new one while yours was being replaced or did they swap it?

I took mine to Infinity Hanger Lane where Kerry replaced both pods for me. She nicked them off a brand new lid rather than order them for me. My lid is well out of warranty but still got 5*****+ treatment:cool:

It’s worth it just to see Kerry do her magic wiggle when she adjusts the visor fitting;)

I had the same problems on the Quantum F lids but so far mine is fine.

How dare anyone say anything bad about Arais, or Shoeis for that matter. They’re expensive, and all the top racers wear them, so 'nuff said.

It’s this kind of talk that makes for independent thinking. And once that starts, who knows where it will lead? :P:D:)

Thank you Chunky, you’re so complimentary of Hanger and me, I really appreciate the feedback its great to hear xx

Credit where credit’s due young lady:)

As you know, I was due to start a bike holiday in Italy a couple of days after my Arai pod exploded and was in a pickle:w00t:

You could quite easily insisted on ordering my new pods, but no, you guys went that extra mile for me and for that you deserve the compliments;)
