In my desperate attempts to hang on to the few pennies I ever seem to have to rub together I have decided to try and by-pass the garage altogether.
I’ve just signed up for the 30 week P/Time practical motorbike engineering course at Merton college (starts in September) and the really sad thing is, I don’t care about the money, I just can’t wait to get up to me guts in blood, oil and WD40. I’m dreaming of skinned knuckles as I scrape every inch of flesh I own on stipped bolts and getting blown up when I forget to stub out me fag properly whilst trying to drain a petrol tank.
Its sad, but this is genuinely the first time in my life I have actively sought out edcation and can’t wait for school to satrt.
If I had the cash to take a year out, I’d do the full time learn every inch of a Ducati and improve their electronics course…unfortuantely ze bills are calling!
I would love to do a basic motorcycle mechanics course but cant afford 400 smackers to do one. A 12 week evening class would suit me to the ground to start with as I am pretty incompetent. Then again that’s what i have Nick for
Anyone know of any evening courses down south east london way? Fancy doing the same myself, save me a load of cash by keeping me out of the pub and a load of cash on Suzuki dealer services.
It’s that time of year again, so pop down to your local WHS & pick up a copy of ‘Floodlight’ or ‘Hot Courses’ they’ll be listed in there, guess they’ll probably have websites you can search as well.
Good to see that folks are signing up for these courses, I must admit that I’ve been quite suprised by how few people on here seem to be able &/or confident enough to do their own spannering.
Its the evil scare-mongers at “Garageworld” who sneak around bike clubs and say things like
"Ooh yeah, it was so good in the old days when it was just engines and you could fix things yourself, but now its all computers. I’d NEVER EVER EVER try and repair my bike cos you can ruin it so easily. I always trust my local Suzuki/Honda/Kawasaki dealer, cos they cost a little but they’re good
They’re just blokes who own garages trying to drum up a bit of business from gullible newbies…
