My front tyre has been struck by aliens!

I went to get my front tyre replaced from an 010 to an 014 yesterday and the mechanic that did it wants to send my tyre back to Bridgestone! My front tyres have always feathered on the right hand side of the tyre due to the camber of the road. However this one has feathered both sides and badly which the mechanic said is totally unexplainable (unless I have ridden abroad which I havent). Run your hand against the tread and both sides of the tire have huge steps in tread. It might go some way to explain why my handling was so bad. Will be interesting to see what Bridgestone say. This mechanic changes tyres all day everyday and he was totally dump struck lol

Anyway reports on the new 014! 100 times better than the 010 ever felt, quick steering, stuck to floor as well. I also set my front suspension back to standard too! It seems that the previous owner had softened eveything from standard, preload and rebound was slackened right off! It feels like a different bike! The front end is planted and feels secure unlike before where it felt like a floating mess with no security at all!

Result! Just need it to stop raining now! lol

I love my 014’s too. I had an 010 on the fron before and an 020 on the back, much happier now. Keep us posted.

Will do. Did you notice that the bike seems to lean and drop into corners a lot faster?

How old was the mechanic ?

I ask because this sort of wear pattern certainly wasn’t uncommon on Bridgestones - I had the same wear pattern on a couple of BT56 fronts a few years back & remember seeing & partaking in a number of online discussions about it on mailing lists, so I certainly wasn’t alone on the issue.

I seem to recall the same thing happing on on an Avon AV35 as well.

Had the same prob on my old 600 srad(bt 010). One of the guys at essential rubber said it’s common with bridgestone tyres.
