Dreadful news, sorry to hear about it Jay
I’ll keep my eyes peeled for that plate on my travels for ya.
I really hope someone manages to catch the thieving scum
Noted.![]()
So sorry to hear about this Jay. Hope it all comes good for you. So many bikes being thieved …
Does make you wonder with the massive amount of money spent on CCTV and ANPR why a van cant be traced easily. There is no hope if a terrorist decides to use a white van for a bombing campaign:rolleyes:
Damn right mate, it all seems to be a big white elephant to me. Where does the money go, and why?
Late as usual but what happened mate?? Any good news? Sorry for what happened, Gixer rider was a right ******, no offence but you can clearly see how genuine a person is and I doubt Jay had the “I wanna take your bike” look… lol he probably did have that look, take the bike and give chase.
Would have been easy to keep up with them plus maybe on teh way we coudl have attracted some police attention… anyhow, all ****… from every point of view. The bottom line is that this shouldn’t happen.

I don’t think it’s a problem with the technology based ‘tools’ more an issue of human resources… say a van like this does trigger ANPR, it’s going to come up as something like “may have been used in the theft of motorcycles”… and when the average MET borough has a long list of unanswered assault, theft, robbery & burglary immediate grade calls to answer it doesn’t really get a look in. The thin blue line is a lot thinner than you might imagine ![]()
Assuming of course that they haven’t changed the plates. If anything a van like this is much more likely to be detected in a routine traffic stop, “Is that your bike in the back sir?”, but since the MET cut back on their Roads Policing resources (they were redirected in to anti terror policing) the chances of getting stopped for a speculative check are well to be frank remote.
I know this has nothing to do with Jay but I think it applies to his situation and the Gixer rider and Scooter guy that helped him give chase, I hope it brings a smile to your face… shame you didn’t had this bloke on the scooter:)
helping you.
Dam Jay… sorry to hear that… hope that a) you get it back and b) some LB’ers help teach the thieving scum a lesson
Only just seen this thread Jay, know how you feel mate. Lets hope you get her back safe and sound
Bad news! I did here about this from a LB friend. Has nowt happened? I aint got time to read all 6 pages!
If the plates arent false the van exists!
