Hi guy . Done my cbt on 1st feb , theory on 3rd , in a weeks time got 3 days of das , and then practical test on 19th. Im quite (not over ) confident when riding , and hoping to pass at the first time .
But please can someone who’s got more knowledge than me in motorbike license regulations , tell me what are your options after failing . Do you have to be escorted to examining centre by instructor (which involves renting bike+ instructors fee + test fee ) or can you use your own bike and ask your mate to ride it for you to test centre , and paying only test fee.
Hope that someone will be able to clear that for me
Thanx
You can get someone to ride a bike there for you and use that one (with L plates and probably a hi-vis waistcoat) thus only paying the test fee.
Obviously you need to be insured on it though Good luck.
I’ve done my test on my own bike, with CharlyBR600RR driving me to the test centre It was by far the cheaper option! I’d rather buy a mate lunch/give him a few bob that shell out 100+ pounds for an instructor… also you will have a shoulder to cry on should you fail
I just got this from the DVLA site, hope it helps and good luck with the test: Direct accessAfter taking CBT and the theory test, the practical test may be taken on a motorcycle with a power output of at least 35kW. A pass allows you to ride any size of bike. All or part of the CBT course may be taken on either a learner bike or a large bike. You may practice for the practical test on bikes larger than the learner bike specification provided:
you are accompanied at all times by an approved instructor on another bike and in radio contact you wear fluorescent or reflective clothing and follow all other provisional licence restrictions
Accelerated accessred and meets the usual criteria and is lagal in every other way.
im not sure how you’d get insurance on anything bigger than a 125 though? if youve done your CBT you can insure and ride a 125 unaccompanied (as long as you dont go on the motorway) but i think you’d struggle to get insurance on anything bigger if you havent got a full licence - catch 22 really!!
if your going to be tested on a 500cc bike you’ll be escorted by your instructor the hire and insurance of the bike is all covered in the fee you pay for the 3 day course
"if your going to be tested on a 500cc bike you’ll be escorted by your instructor the hire and insurance of the bike is all covered in the fee you pay for the 3 day course"
Change “is” to “should be”. Worth checking.
