Not a great surprise that they’ve been lured to Silverstone after that circuit lost F1 to Donington, and hey it’s closer to us so it’s all good.
Shame the circuit’s gash, but hey it’s mostly about the noise!

Hrm. So they’re swapping
Well, change is a good thing. I just hope they lose the up-their-own-ass attitude and give the media the access everyone else provides.
From a spectators point of view I think Silverstone is toilet. I’d much rather travel that bit further to Donny:cool:
The ONLY good thing about Silverstone is the garages - each is bigger than my house!
i like silverstone…
but donny is indeed a better bike track
Someone inject cash into Brands Hatch to make the garages bigger and the place have better media support. Moto GP should be at Brands
2nd that I hate Donnington with a passion never had a good experience there, I love Brands
I’d go with that. I’ve not had one single good lap at Donington, but that’s just me being lame
I really hate Silverstone, but I suppose it is a bit closer, and it won’t matter that Donington is being taken over by the 4 wheel brigade.
Can’t see MotoGP ever coming to Brands…the local council won’t like the noise aspect, and I seem to recall John Hopkins riding the Suzuki motogp bike around there at WSB a couple of years ago, and it just seemed to me that the circuit wasn’t suited to the gp monsters…
You’re right John, Brands wouldn’t be suited to GP.
The run off areas are way too small and I recon they would have to move the crowds back too far for it to keep it’s “cosyness”
Silverstone is a sh*thole, terrible choice of venue
not been to donny, but silverstone is a toss circuit, bring it to brands mr palmer, spend some dosh
Donnington is great Silverstone is pants.
We ought to let someone in authority know.
Ditto the Brands suggestion, might need to look at the parking in a field issue and some of the so called amenities - but as a track much better for spectators then Sstone.
All down to money though - not sure Brands would ever meet the organisers standards.
They all look good from my armchair
Brands Hatch was once a great place to go watch F1 (I was there for my only ever F1 race in '76 to watch James Hunt) and the noise was never an issue then. Why do residents think that by moving close to an established race circuit they have the rights to complain about noise levels…it was there before you moved in!
Personally Donny and Silverstone are great circuits to ride but not to watch at, the ride to the circuits is crap on both fronts, hence i watch from home and if i do go to a race meeting its abroad.
Oh come ON!
Motorbike racing is dependent on spectators, so point 1:
Brands: Effin Awesome, 10/10
Donny: Pretty damm Awesome, 9.5/10
Silverstone: Rank gash, 2/10
OK, so maybe Motorbike racing is dependent on tv appearance:
Brands: Paddock Hill, Druids, entry to the start finish (can’t remember the name doh) - 10/10
Donnington: Redgate, that mega hill (oops name again), and all the rest… 9/10
Silverstone… er… that crappy Infield section so the rich idiots can see what their sponsorship paid for, followed by a RUBBISH CHICANE! - 2/10
OK, so maybe the spectators and the tv aren’t important, what’s left… oh yeah, the feeling you get having visited the track as a punter:
Brands: Like something mega has happened, like you’ve been part of a massive race worth watching… 10/10
Donny - pretty much the same, 10/10
Silverstone: Hmmm. like you’ve been bum touched by a bunch of ueber snotty car fans who wish they’d never met you and just want you to leave your redit card number at the gate along with your pin number and cards. And don’t tyouch anything on the way out you dirty bike loving freaks, Jeeves, set the dogs loose in 3 mintues… AR-SU-Huls! - 1/10
OK, so after a really nice clear, objective discussion let’s tot up the scores eh…
Brands, 30/30
Donny, 28.5/30
Silverstone (ptooi!) 5/30
Hmmmmmm
CR@P CR@P CR@P, I hate that place
Clearways and Craner Curves Tobe;)
Easy Tobes, remember what the nurse suggested you do when you get a little wound up?
Yeah Silverstone is the least popular circuit it seems, but perhaps they’ll be announcing a raft of changes before it’s held?
Oh and it’s dreadful for photos too.
Yeah, I know, breath, let the women and children go, loosen the cable ties a little so the flesh goes red again (white means no blood, this is bad) take 3 of the blue one’s 2 of the red one’s and if things are really starting to flash and buzz consider taking one of the yellow and black one’s but only if things are getting REALLY WEIRD! Oh yeah, and call the police, the Paramedics, an ambulance and some of the Samaritans to help everyone get over what I’ve just done…
That was about everything right?
Yeah, pictures wise Silverstone is a pancake of tedium almost as dull as Snetterton!
Bl00dy BRDC! Too much money, NO IDEA OF WHAT A MODERN SPECTATOR SPORT INVOLVES!
crap news :crying:
for viewing, Brands is prob best but as has been pointed out it couldn’t accommodate the GP bikes without big changes (for the worse!); WSB will be back there soonish I hope
Silverstone is a piece of mangy old festering crap, an embarrassment for British motorsport, the facilities are only just better than Donington (and thats mostly to do with having more space and better access)
Donington is old and tired (although the upgrade may help but at the expense of the viewing experience maybe) however it makes up for this with a great track and the crowds are close to the action (that may of course change)
Goddamit, just thinking of the crap viewing experience at Silverstone has put me off the Brit GP for ages now; next one will be either Assen or Mugello
