Moto GP

I am probably going to be shot to pieces for this but I can’t help but think that Moto GP has become a bit boring and F1 ish. For example the Assen GP had the same top 3 as Catalunya and off the top of my head I can think of about 8 overtakes the entire race. Catalunya was a bit more interesting because of the last 2 laps but before that there wasn’t a great deal to write home about.

Am I the only one who thinks this? Is it down to the fuel restrictions, the Fiat Yamahas being in a league of their own or have I been spoiled by the recent TT coverage on ITV4?

Don’t get me wrong, I will continue to watch it and enjoy it but it just seems a bit less interesting than it should be.

Discuss….

Hehe I think you’ve been spoiled by TT coverage. I think with the top 3 being so close together it’s all about watching and waiting for things like Rossi’s last corner take-over 2 weeks ago, and watching the rest of the pack at Assen was fun! The behind-the-scenes feuds and politics are also interesting but that’s just me…

last couple of races have been good, the battle for sixth this weekend was fantastic with some really close racing…

earlier in the season i was beginning to get fed up with it and concentrate on wsb/bsb…

Catalunya was a brilliant race, hard fought and close. Last week was also good watching the battle for 6th. Next week at Laguna Seca looks like it will a hard fought race with the top 3 gunning for podiums. Looking forwards to it.

I got the feeling that at Assen none of the top 3 felt there was particularly much to play for. Stoner was clearly not well so wasn’t likely to put huge amounts of effort in, and Rossi’s expected to win the Lorenzo Vs Rossi race so I can see Lorenzo going for the safe bet of 2nd rather than gambling a repeat of the last race on a more bendy circuit.

Race for 6th looked fun, but there just wasn’t that much coverage of it.

On the coverage- part of the problem is that in a closely fought race (as it was for sixth place this week) most of the action invariably takes place in the last couple of laps. The broadcasters seem (maybe are) duty bound to show the leading riders last lap in it’s entirity even if, as was the case this week, it was a bit of a foregone conclusion. While we were watching The Goat cross the line the battle for sixth was in full flow. Maybe they should have just shown the last couple of laps of the sixth place race afterwards- after all they have the technology to do it. Mind you I wouldn’t have wanted to miss the victory celebration- the very long piece of wallpaper was inspired.

“Catalunya was a bit more interesting because of the last 2 laps”

Jesus mate!

One runaway victory and it’s boring?

Just to remind you the race before Assen was one of the best I’ve ever seen, all three riders tied for first place, what more do you want?

Racing in general is zzzZZZZzzzz.

I’d rather play sports than be a couch potato and watch em.

is there any sport where all attendees can win ?
