Nice one TC, I hadn’t heard. trying to self isolate myself from the News

Are garages on Johnson’s list of non-essential shops? A timely reminder for me to get the front tyre sitting in the garage fitted, I’m thinking I need two fronts on the Ford too.

Great, because mine was due one soon…

Yes garages are on essential list

Garages are exempt, work should be restricted to key workers and to ensure others’ vehicles are roadworthy for essential needs (basic shopping etc.)

i assume road tax is not extended

No but you may want to consider whether or not SORNing is to your benefit

I am actually sorn-ing

Good point. I put mine on the battery conditioner today, I can’t imagine I’ll be riding it any time soon.

They refund full months so make sure you sorn before Wednesday

Yup, I SORN’d just before the end of Feb.

Will dvla let you re tax your bike on line if mot has expired and there’s an amnesty?

It’s not an amnesty. All vehicles with an MOT due from today - 30/03/2020 will have their MOT’s automatically extended by 6 months. So, that implies to me that if your MOT has already expired, you don’t get an extra 6 months before you need to get it renewed, your vehicle is no longer MOT’d & you still need to go to a testing station & get a new one to legally use it.

Apparently the MOT expiry date will be updated automatically on the MOT database before it expires, so you should still be able to tax a vehicle online.

I got my bike MOT’d on Friday
shocked me it passed

Ahh right. Only asking coz my bike is SORN and mot runs out in May. So I can tax it in say June with extended mot? In case I start using it to go shopping.

Your MOT should be extended to November & you should then be able to tax it online.

The Govt website says: “Your MOT expiry date will usually be updated on the day your MOT is due to expire. However, it might be done up to a few days before.”
