So crash barriers are going to do what on a single carriageway road??? Apart from giving you something very solid to slam into if you do end up sliding on your arse :crying:
Sadly I have actually crashed on that particular road :crying:
That is one scary road…:w00t: used to go up there on a sunday and there was always someone had an off:doze:
Wow - also if you take out the motorcycle accidents, it becomes one of britains safest roads.
Replace ‘despite’ with ‘as a result of’ and we might be getting somewhere on the casualty stats. It’s a bugger of a road though, I’ve done it in the cage.
Well yes statistically it the most dangerous.I would like to know how many motorcyclists have caused the death of other road users or pedestrians, when crashing thier own bike,i doubt many,if any.
My point is,we all know the dangers ourselves as bikers and should be left to be responsable for our own actions, not bundled into a statistic that makes a road “unsafe”.
I think the public have lost sight that driving/riding can be a fun activity, and its this that has caused the labeling of certain roads,“unsafe”.
Personally i think its a fantastic road, that is all about the fun of riding. If you ride it well within your limits surely its as safe as houses.Ive had no near misses in my many blasts up and down it.

They’ve already taken the limit down to 50mph, and it’s regularly policed by helicopter… not sure what else they can do!
Did anyone watch Police Camera Action last night where they announced this and other apparently lethal roads?
What a tediously presented programme. Yes I’d like to know which roads are deemed dangerous and why. No, I don’t have an hour while you tease me with the results because I DON’T CARE THAT MUCH! They even put in a little ‘X Factor’ pause every now and again in an effort to build tension!
I watched it… a couple of really really old videos of pursuits, followed by lots of men with beards saying how they can design fatalies out of the dangerous roads, presented by Alistair whatisname who’s been disqualified from driving for all sorts of badness (can’t be arsed to google for the details at present). I found it very annoying, and kept shouting at the telly “For F***'s sake, why don’t we just deal with the crap drivers!” or words to that effect.
Rant over.
nevermind the roads side of it did anyone see the clip of the biker on the motorway were some dodgy cage driver didnt see him swerves and clips the back of the bike… so painful to watch… amazingly they said the biker walked away…:w00t:
Because proper coppers cost money, they might also save lives and make the roads safer but they cost, but speed scameras are self funding and infact return a profit (not outside schools, obviously, only on safe, straight roads), so the govt says speeding is the deadliest sin but don’t worry, we have a solution. Do you remember the one third lie ? One third of all accidents are caused by speeding . . . that was the start and scameras were the solution, replace traffic police with scameras. (Even TRL’s own figures, endorsed by the police were about 6% of accidents caused by speed)
Well quite… apparently i read somewhere (don’t ask me where) that there are about half the number of traffic officers in London as there were 20 years ago…
