At the time he wrote it he reckoned that he had been in the Parachute Regiment for 5 years (So, he joined at 15?!?!? ). He also states that he is a motorbike rider and lives in Central London. :doze:
Makes for an interesting read to say the least, and funnily enough he has been ripped to peices on the forum!
Why do these people do it? If they put as much effort into actually doing some of these things as they did into creating a false lifestyle they wouldn’t have to lie about it!
The Waltenkommando has been busy of late, ousted some real good’uns. Brings a tear to my eye that there are brave men willing to tear apart the reputations of wanabe soldiers everywhere.
I’ve known about the guy for a while, but last time I looked at the site he only had a couple of pages of people tearing into him. I think the count is into the hundreds now!
Jamesy, you’ll only truley know how much people despise people like him once you’ve done your training and served with the boys on the ground!
It’s an insult to anybody who has been there and done it! I hope the guy bumps into some proper 2 Para lads, and they recognise him!
I would be serving right now if it wasn’t for this sodding knee injury. A year or more minimum they said.
Annoys me that people who haven’t served walt it up and play the big man when people like me who WANT to serve can’t because of injuries etc. But yeah, I won’t know the true anger until I have worn the Queen’s uniform and taken the Queen’s shilling.
TBH I can’t see what the fuss is about, the guy clearly has problems…Loads of “trained killers” promising to rip to pieces a guy who clearly needs help… All a bit sad really…
Rest that knee up and only go for the training when you’re 100% fit again mate! Take it from me, you don’t want to go through any sort of training with an injury! I did my whole NCO’s Cadre with a shattered bone in my foot from day one, and only got through it because I had a cortizone injection and a shed load of painkillers!
I think I’m with Whistler on this one. I’ve every respect for men and women in the armed forces - I had friends also serving in Afghanistan when I was out there last year as an aid worker and I had a great deal of admiration for what they were doing. I think anyone serving in Afghanistan in the armed forces deserves our support and I can understand the anger an ‘imposter’ such as this can provoke.
However, the guy does obviously need help - he seems a very insecure and rather pathetic individual, who doesn’t value or respect himself, hence the need to create a super hero action man ID. Publicity is just fuelling the fire and just ignoring him is probably the best policy.
I have to disagree about these people needing help. All they need is a reality check! Unless you’ve been through the intensive training it takes to become a member of the Armed Forces you will never quite understand how much these people are taking the p1ss! They are trying to spice up there own lives by lying and deceiving people into believing they are or have been serving members of a very special fraternity!
Whilst I wouldn’t personally make threats of violence or even carry them out, I would like to sit down and have a chat with these people and try to make them see just how offensive it is to us that they are living off the merits and awards that others earn (sometimes posthumously), and that they need to get a real life!
I thoroughly believe in outing these people publicly, so that they can’t deceive anybody else. And so, here is a link for the list of “Walter Mitty’s” that ARRSE.com has outed…
To some degree I can see your point. However, anyone can choose to be a man or woman of integrity and courage regardless of special training. For example, the local Afghan women’s organisations I worked with did not have any special training, yet these Afghan women risked death and torture through the Taliban years and beyond to support war traumatised widows and children.
The armed forces risk their lives for others, yet so do a lot of civilians - doctors, translators, de-miners, security personnel, drivers, teachers, guards etc
People such as this man who want to deceive others about their acheivements are not really worth the effort. Far better to concentrate our efforts and time on those who fully deserve our respect and support.
