It’s crazy that these aren’t govt funded ! ![]()
What’s happening to the Ball that was planned ?
Noticed an article on bbc news this morning about this and was wondering if any one out there has any bright ideas as to something we could organise as a group to raise funds?
hate that the air ambulances aren’t NHS funded, althoguh I guess they’re very expensive to run, but as they aren’t it would be good if we could do something…
There’s stuff going on ‘behind the scenes’ but if you have any more suggestions they will be very welcome.
Sincere is our charity fundraiser extrodinare and does a sterling job. We are coming up with ideas for larger events also - watch this space.
Thanks
Can’t they claim some costs back from the liable parties insewerance cover?
The goverment throw money away to useless causes which don`t really need it, and something like this which is a brilliant service gets bugger all.
It`s not fair.
We pay enough tax, what to line the MP’s pockets… ![]()
I agree, it seems silly if they don’t.
The NHS do pay nearly half the costs, but flying a doctor and a paramedic round London with a load of surgical equipment is always going to be expensive.
We were discussing this on my 1st aid course this week - most people thought it was funded by the NHS.
Same kind of situation as the RNLI, the people who run the lifeboats. Don’t know what kind of government funding (maybe none?) they get, but i know they rely on charitable donations to keep going and almost all their crew members are volunteers who do it on their spare time.
I think everyone would agree that both the Air Ambulance and the lifeboats do an absolutely crucial, sometimes thankless job and between them save hundreds of lives every year, seems ludicrous to me that such a criticallly important emergency service can be so woefully underfunded.
The RNLI get not one penny of Government funding. No doubt if the Government did pay tax payers’ money there would be those who would complain that they as tax payers didn’t see why they had to pay as they never went into the water etc etc.
Yes what happened to this, has been posponed but no info since
RNLI are one of this country’s richest charities, really popular with the public and not short of a bob or two (so I was told by an friend who worked in the charities fundraising advertising business). Not that I’m knocking that, it’s an equally worthy cause, does indeed receive not one penny of goverment dosh and big lifeboats cost millions. I just find it strange that people generally are prepared to support a cause like that, which they’ll probably never have cause to use themselves, and not consider their local air ambulance, which they’re much more likely to. I don’t just mean our LAA, they’re everywhere, and they’re all in the same boat. (no pun intended!
