Dubai is in the middle of the desert and even though the ‘petrodolar’ can buy proper snow and all the elses that comes with it!

Sorry to be pedantic, but I don’t believe there is any (significant) oil in Dubai.

The snow place is really impressive isn’t it! Perfect for the summer when it’s too hot to be outside.
Everytime I go to Dubai there’s a new high-rise growing somewhere, they have some really impresive buildings there. There’s also a new-ish race track very close to the city.
Given the amount of UK and Americans there I’m a little suprised they haven’t been bombed yet.
You are right Pete! I have no idea where they money came from so I used the word ‘Petrodolar’ as a form of expression… Anyway, the thing is great isn’t it?

They also have the worlds most bling hotel, shaped like a sail and it changes colour at night. I’ve been past there and it looks very impresive.
Another project there is the Palms, a group of man-made Islands that contain luxury villas. It’s visable from space!
The place is packed with cheap labour, bought in from India, pakistan and some from Africa.
I like visiting, especially at this time of year, not sure I’d like to live there though. I’ve got several friends who are there on long term contracts, they seem to like it.
I know the Hotel! It’s only one 7 stars in the world and it’s built on an man-made island!
