Note:
Arriving at a major road from a minor road don’t go unless absolutely sure. Major roads tend to be busy so just stop at the line and do all your checks again. Being careful isn’t a problem. It’s better than pulling out and failing due to dangerous driving.>>
Just look RIGHT – LEFT – RIGHT as your immediate danger is from the right. Make sure before you move off you check over your left and right shoulders and then finally do another life saver over your right if turning right, Left if turning left. And always make sure it is clear or there is enough room before you go.>>
ROUNDABOUTS:>>
Tip 1: Look for Sign showing lanes & exits and work out what lane to be in for Left, Tip 2:Don’t change lanes at last moment – proceed the way the lane goes if you are in wrong lane>>
LEFT EXIT>>
On being told to turn LEFT at Roundabout->>
- LEFT EXIT always LEFT LANE >>
- Check both mirrors, understand what is around and ahead >>
- Indicate >>
- LEFT LIFESAVER and position the bike slightly left of centre >>
- Adjust speed (use brakes to show traffic you are slowing).Select the suitable gear (down or possibly up) >>
- Head Up looking RIGHT into roundabout>>
- Proceed when way is clear and do LEFT LIFESAVER as you turn>>
- Look ahead for speed signs, parked cars etc>>
- Cancel indicator>>
- Check mirrors >>
- Accelerate as appropriate>>
AHEAD EXIT>>
On being told to go AHEAD at Roundabout->>
- AHEAD is usually left lane or middle lane unless no right exit on roundabout then AHEAD is probably right lane >>
- Check both mirrors, understand what is around and ahead >>
- LEFT LIFESAVER and position the bike slightly left of centre of your lane >>
- Adjust speed (use brakes to show traffic you are slowing).Select the suitable gear (down or possibly up) >>
- Head Up looking RIGHT into roundabout>>
- Proceed when way is clear and follow lane around>>
- Indicate as you pass exit before AHEAD and look into each exit/LEFT LIFESAVER>>
- Possible RIGHT LIFESAVER as you exit in case vehicle cuts in from right lane>>
- Look ahead for speed signs, parked cars etc>>
- Cancel indicator>>
- Check mirrors >>
- Accelerate as appropriate>>
RIGHT EXIT>>
On being told to go RIGHT at Roundabout->>
- RIGHT is always RIGHT lane >>
- Check both mirrors, understand what is around and ahead >>
- Indicate Right>>
- RIGHT LIFESAVER and change lane >>
- Adjust speed (use brakes to show traffic you are slowing).Select the suitable gear (down or possibly up) >>
- LEFT LIFESAVER to check what’s happening beside you>>
- Head Up looking RIGHT into roundabout>>
- Proceed when way is clear and follow lane around>>
- Indicate left as you pass exit before RIGHT and look (LEFT LIFESAVER) into each exit.>>
- LEFT LIFESAVER as you exit and especially if crossing lanes>>
- Look ahead for speed signs, parked cars etc>>
- Cancel indicator>>
- Check mirrors >>
- Accelerate as appropriate>>
UNMARKED JUNCTIONS>>
- Generally in housing areas – look for gaps in houses/parked cars etc>>
- Don’t assume priority. >>
- Slow using BRAKES. Look RIGHT – LEFT – RIGHT>>
- Proceed cautiously >>
- Check mirrors>>
- Accelerate back up to speed>>
If yes, then some of the people may find this useful as well
